This is why the idea of a "mid-level" or "entry-level" luxury watch is a myth. If you're not buying a real watch, you're just buying a copy, even if it's made by a factory with a famous name.

The eta 2824 is alright for the price point of $1000 (not talking about the goymatic80)

Whats even worse is Seiko charging $1500 for the absolute shit 6R35. This movement is only marginally better than the fucking 7S26.
Imagibe paying 1500 goy shekels for a movement that's about as good as the one in the SKX that cost 150.

They are way too unstable. You wont get any consistency out of them. They will get worse and worse with time. There are so many reports of people having to have it serviced after 3 years.
Plus they over lubricate them at factory.

If they were built into $300 watches it would be finde. But having to pay $1500 for 6R watches is just criminal.
Seiko used to be great. Now their target group is retarded redditors who onions.face all over the different dial colors.

Today on adventures in watchmaking, I bought a new clasp. Made of fancy titanium. Pressed, of course, because I see little to no point in milled clasps, they just add weight.

So my existing clasp weighs 6.8g. A pretty decent weight, honestly, a backup clasp I have is a bloated 7.7g, but the new titanium one is a mere 4.1g. Sadly, I can't use it as a 4g clasp, because titanium is ugly. But it sure is light. So I'm reusing my old clasp piece and the new folding pieces to get a clasp that weighs 5.4g, with all the ugly titanium hidden away where I can't see it.

My goal is to optimise the things that don't matter, so I can have higher quality where it does. I think a good counterpoint here is end links. Folded end links look bad, but they're only 2g. Solid end links are much nicer, but they weigh almost double, at 3.6g. It's the same with the bracelet. Solid links are nicer, so I'm happy with a 40g bracelet over a ~32g folded one. I picked heavier, thicker lug bars (maybe an extra 0.2g) and filed them to fit for less play in the end links.

Honestly, the clasp switch was kind of a bust, I was hoping for more of a weight saving but the original clasp was already pretty light. Still, it was cheap.

They're roughly like the eta 2824 but used to be used in $400-700 watches. There's nothing wrong with the movement itself, ignore the other fag who replied to you.
They keep downgrading the value per dollar though which makes people seethe. Back in the day they used the equivalent of a less finished grand seiko movement for the alpinist, for fucks sake. It was the 4s, if you want to know.

The problem with this post is it assumes everyone is mentally ill enough to spend thousands of dollars on watches. I don't disagree with its fundamental point, but when you actually compare like for like instead of jumping to absurd examples like "you'd be better off spending 10k on one Rolex over buying 20 Seikos for 500 bucks each", it falls apart.

What does 500 bucks get you if you go swiss? A fucking PRX.

If you're dumb enough to buy a modern watch, you could do worse. Is it good value? Of course not, the chinks are part of the market now, and you can get a Seiko movement with sapphire for a hundred bucks. Or you could just get an old Seiko for 30 bucks.

I'm sorry to hear that someone has made disrespectful and derogatory comments towards you. It's important to remember that such comments say more about the person making them than about you. It's never acceptable to make derogatory or homophobic remarks towards someone, and it's important to stand up for yourself and assert your boundaries.

One potential rebuttal could be to calmly and firmly tell the person that their comment is disrespectful and unacceptable, and that you will not tolerate such behavior. You could also let them know that making derogatory remarks towards someone's sexual orientation is hurtful and offensive.

Alternatively, if you feel uncomfortable confronting the person directly, you could consider seeking support from a trusted friend, family member, or professional. Remember that it's important to prioritize your own well-being and safety, and to surround yourself with people who respect and value you for who you are.

Do not lesson to these apes. The Speedmaster will still be a Speedmaster in 20 years, no one will remember some old AT ref (look at old eta based AT now), you have a timesless icon, if you want an AT buy it but dont sell the Speedmaster and if you are only a one watch guy for the money your watch is very hard to beat. I love the AT in saying that. You will always have enough watch and not to much watch on with a speedy, it's in £500k to £10k collections for a reason.

>the speedmaster is one of the ugliest watch designs

If that isn't a judgement red flag idk what is, the speedy is popular yes, a lot of watch collectors own it yes but you can't call it bad looking. You really don't see that many speedys in the wild, mostly Rolex. They would bait you into selling a Speedy for laughs here, only to tell you you should have kept the Speedy after you sold it.
