I have a 3861 Speedy and a Casioak right now, I’m a watchmaker as a side hustle and a customer I did a service for told me he was in love with his Sinn 104, I really like the 556 picrel, what do you retards think about sinn in general?

Based but don't buy it to flex. If you want a lifetime companion of a mechanical that you can beat the fuck out of, get a Sinn. If you want a watch that everyone but the most autistic of watch people will not think is a $100 mall watch, do not get a Sinn.

>> No.17576495

if you have a Speedy you don't need a dull Sinn Watch.

I got one back at $900 smth, great watch, can be dressed up and casual. Not sure if the value is still there with the fake inflation.
>>17576495
I agree but its a lot more expensive.

>> No.17576679

I don't mid them, because they make some decently small models and they don't seem to be doing the fake MUH HERITAGE MUH HERITAGE or attempting to wink at nazi fetishists despite being german and vaguely "military"

I have a mildly negative sentiment about their reliability because for some reason I have this connection in my head with RGM and bad service, not sure where I picked that up and I don't much care.

I've been wearing my 356 almost exclusively.

It looks great and can be worn on almost any occasion without looking tweedy or garish, and I think it's likely to be mistaken for a Timex or Swatch. I have skinny wrists and it's as small as chronographs get. Neat mid-range watch.

Nice but I wish it didn't say "flieger", as an airpla/n/e autist and former aviation industry person, aviation people irritate the fuck out of me, they are bad people, no need to make it into an icky fashion label, just don't remind me of that, I want chronograph I don't want icky icky airplane people stink

Don't buy it, some insight into my watch collection over the past year or so:
Had a Sinn 556 for rough wear, diver for daily (Tudor) & a Santos; pretty good selection.

Then sold Santos & Tudor, and bought a 3861 & Tank as I wanted my daily-sports to be my 'best' watch, then never wore 556 again...
>Wait a minute, this feels like a waste of money
So I then sold my tank & 556, and bought back Santos. Now any time (like once a year lol) I go camping or anything I just wear my casio.

It might seem like a good idea to have a Sinn as a more rough and ready watch, but for ~£1,000 just sitting there for the odd occasion you might wear it/need it, it's not worth it - put the money into something you'd wear more.

I really want a watch similar to this Sinn but I want it in a daily work shitter price range.

I really like the look of them, if I were going to spend significant money on a watch it would probably be a Sinn

The black and white 556i looks a little plain, I'd get the red hand variant, personally

I really like Sinn, it's from my hometown Frankfurt, europes capital of aviation, finance and crack cocaine. Also it translates by accident to "sense" while being a family name and not a cringey marketing name. If you are stupid enough to fall for the mechanical meme or just want some minimalist, cold steel watch jewlery, i'd recommend it! Handled a few myself, quality feels solid.

I'm too autist and afraid to go into a jewelry to buy a watch. I have the money but I know they're going to judge me. Can you guys tell me how to do it?

>> No.17578906

>>17578815
Just go in and quote your budget, the nice salesperson will show you around. They will try to upsell you on a timepiece closest to the extremity of your budget so always ask them if there’s something that does the same thing for less.

A lot of people get imposter syndrome when they walk into a designer showroom, when they are catered to everyday folks like you. But I understand how you feel.

stop that

Ah yes, Sinn, charging almost the same for a silicone strap as a metal bracelet, also charging €500 for a domed sapphire option over acrylic.

I love their tech, same goes for Damasko, but I just cannot see myself spending money on a brand new one.

Thats my Sinn. Nearly 10yo. I use it daily on every occasion, don‘t even own another watch.
Friebd of mine has a Rolex, bought to impless wifeys family, but we agree that my black Sinn is the far cooler watch, espechially with that used look. It‘s authentic, not „insta-rich“.

It’s mostly the crystal and caseback. I like the way it “pops” while sitting below g-shock levels of chunky.

>> No.17579284

>>17579265
A g-shock square is only 13.5mm, an overly thick watch, but not absurd levels. I've got a diver with similar dimensions, and it has a 2.5mm thick crystal and a 2.8mm thick caseback. How are you adding an extra 2mm here?

The case measures 9mm. Therefore the crystal + caseback is 6.5mm thick, I’m not plucking numbers from the air.
