I actually like it, and I'd describe it honestly different. It's a legitimately skanky Ted Lapidus-y fragrance as it opens up, drying down into a weird office safe mix of earth and flowers. Ending in a sweet woody muskiness.

Otherwordly might be a stretch, but it's out there frag-wise in its strange ability to be both crowd pleasing and crowd repulsing in the span of a few hours.

the Tauer description is very fitting:
'Surrender to the darkness of the night with a boozy cocktail and a good dose of velvety smoky happiness with the last sun on your cheeks.'
for me it's main notes are boozy orange (Cointreau or something similar), smoke/tobacco and rose
actually quite similar to Vanilla Flash but a bit more complex
shares (some of) its DNA with LDDM and VF
longevity and sillage are as expected from a Tauer EDP

EDP is a combination of guaiak, mineral and some aquatic notes. I would say its the best out of those by far.
EDT intense uses similiar notes, but is less woody and mineral, however it adds a creamy fig note and "watermelon" notes, the latter of which end up smelling like dill.
EDT doesn't have the creamy fig, doesn't have the sandalwood, still has smells like dill, is a bit more aquatic than the intense.

I wear vetiver essential oils occasionally. I don’t find Encre noire to be a vetiver dominant frag. Sure it’s there, but it’s not front and center like it is in Guerlain vetiver or gevinchy vetyver. And it’s not just Encre noire, tdh and guerlain homme leau claim to be vetiver frags but they’re just part of the composition. For a modern vetiver frag there’s Guerlain vetiver extreme, but the original is better imo.

I heard they have a good Aventus clone. I’d be interested in trying oriental Middle Eastern Fragrances but I’m worried that the quality won’t be so good given the low prices online, with the exception of Amouage. Especially UAE perfumes.

the opening (at least on my skin) is quite different to LDDM
this is sweeter, the patchouli is more pronounced (actually quite similar to Nasomatto Absinth for me - this is a good thing imo), some smoke is also there and the spices (cumin, coriander) are toned down a bit
by the time it dries down it is almost the same as LDDM, maybe a bit sweeter (it has the same Tauer DNA as many of his other frags)
sillage and longevity as expected (used the 5ml bottle sparingly last night, the scent is still very much there today at 10:30)
hard to choose between the two frags (LDDM is a bit more versatile but ACDD is smoother and a bit less divisive i think), both of them are perfect

i have it on good authority that all the arab clone frags are ifra compliant. this is the reason why their clones usually fall short as well and that there are so few which actually mirror the original scent. there are multiple ways they are doing it in order to secure good margins:
first, if they get the scent right, they usually use lower concentrations. the reason for that is that a refined/balanced fragrance might use a lot of different materials at low concentrations already, which creates a more expensive mixture (simple economies of scale). in order not to smell weird but still have a good margin for a clone juice, they simply don't last unless you spray a lot.
second, if they aim to improve on performance, they increase the concentrations of the long-lasting ingredients. as a result, they change the scent and due to that they always smell a little "off".
third, in order to deceive the clients, they will use natural ingredients in ifra compliant amounts and then fill up with synthetics. dakar is a good example for this, which uses real oakmoss (while drakkar noir uses real treemoss) and then fills it up with evernyl. the problem with drakkar noir is that it never underwent a proper reformulation and simply got its ingredients lowered to ifra compliant amounts and now doesn't last anymore.
fourth, they claim high oil concentrations from time to time and then simply put actual oil in it. not the perfumed stuff, just oil. nice and shiny on your skin, looks like you got a good deal.
fifth and among the most common, they reduce notes. head notes are often just a suggestion to them and they skip them entirely. that saves on ingredients without destroying the base scent. these are usually the only useable clones, as you at least get the right impression of the original base with similar performance.

so far, the amount of good clones is so ridiculously low that you will only ever hear about those. the market is full of them, you never hear about those.

Have you tried Eros Flame? Similar dna, but a bit spicier. Other than, YSL Y EdP for the apple note, Le Male for vanilla, mint and tonka bean, Sauvage or Dylan Blue for the ambroxan. This stuff's not nearly as beastly as I was expecting based on reviews. Sure, it's got a stank to it, but too me it smells more oudy than animalic. What I get most though is a bright, piney blast from the elemi, and a spicy kick from the saffron. The so-called whisky accord gives it a touch of sweetness. It doesn't really smell like whiskey, but I get where they're coming from. It's really nice fragrance actually. Maybe my favorite Zoologist? Maybe tied with Squid. Anyone else wear Fahrenheit every day or very often? If so, do you have a frag/frags you wear once or twice a week to keep things interesting? Basically I'm looking for an "alternative" to Fahrenheit that is not like Fahrenheit at all, but if I love Fahrenheit, I'll love this. I wear GIT sometimes but it feels like a special event, dress-up type scent. I also have Ralph Lauren Purple Label which I like but it feels like a date night scent. Versace Eros was gifted to me but while it's nice at first, I hate the drydown. Versace DB is decent albeit slightly syrupy and I associate it with a time in my life I'd like to get past. Aventus I was in love with for a few months but started to get tired of the whole thing, and having to spray 10 times every hour to smell it at all. Chanel Allure Homme Sport has a weird quality I can't quite put my finger on that I couldn't stand in the drydown, and it also reminded me of Aventus in that it smelled too much like an easily distinguishable smell (in this case, orange creamsicle). I tried AdG Profumo and I'm really leaning towards this type of scent... but something a little different, maybe less popular/common (minor issue though) but more importantly less of that "generic" / fragrance section of Macy's / the mall note I get out of it especially after the opening.

Violet flowers and violet leaves are not the same, those are two different notes you stupid burger-flipping nigger faggot.
The flower is powdery and somewhat sweet, a protagonist on its own while the leaf is very ozonic and usually a sidekick for another note.
That's why the flower is used for women, the leaf for men. Sometimes a fragrance can use both to give the impression of a humid, fresh garden. Fahrenheit is not such a thing, the violet is in absolute concentration and smells like gas but in the heart notes it settles down to give the impression of mandarin/citrus juice.

Just got a shipment of decants. $20 worth. Outta curiosity more more less:

>Kouros

I found Kouros to be magnificent, but I have issues seeing the horror fragrance aspect of it. The animalic notes were there, but they were masked heavily by the cleaner, semi-floral notes. I find myself wondering if the Vintage is different. Furyo and TL PH had it comparatively worse, if I had to judge (I love them all though).

>TL Altamir

The biggest surprise of the bunch. Magnificent longevity, and a great drydown. Like a fruity Kouros in an odd way (I had it on one arm, Kouros on the other). I am going to buy it to put it in reserve, at the very least.

>Azzaro PH

Good, but honestly kinda redundant given my collection. I'd buy it if I found it for $20 at a TJ Maxx or something.

>Caron Le3, the Third Man

Not at dark or mysterious as I expected it to be. It seems very much like a fall/spring kind of suit fragrance. Isn't making me run to buy it full price vintage, but I enjoy it.

>The Dreamer

Bought because I saw it on a box set in TJ Maxx and didn't want to commit. I enjoy it, but am kinda weirded out by it. It seems too bright for the cold, and possibly too cloying for the heat (I live in the armpit of America). A little too unisex leaning for my tastes.

>Caron Anarchiste

This just weirded me out. A cinnamony mix of notes that seems oddly compiled. Like the dreamer I don't know how I'd use it. Seems like something a '90s Bohemian type would wear.

>Bogart Silver Scent

The grape soda note rings true. The only real disappointment of the bunch. I have OMS Ruby and that is 60% of this scent minus the gross grape note and with some actual depth to it.
