You should at least go to a shop and try on a few popular watches to get an understanding of what sizes suit your wrist. If you don't want to, the golden rule is measure your wrist's width, and you want the lug to lug to be 75-95% of that. So at 6.5 inches, you probably have a width of about 53mm, which means you want a watch with a lug to lug of 40-50mm. 56mm lug to lug? That's a no go, personally I wouldn't go above 85%.

Yeah I have a decent collection. I'd like to find reasonably priced watches around 36/38mm but the oversized fashion is really a pain in the ass. My biggest watch is probably the B&M Clifton, or a Orient Mako. I feel that size is really the max I can bare, but I'd try to stay under the 40mm. That's a pain, I love that glycine/panerai stylized design, but the smallest being 44mm I honestly doubt Ill ever get one

- Oris: looks rather unique but also seems like it wants to be a mixture of many watches, like the dial colour the most
- Formex: interesting design, may want to be a RO to much. Gives me Command & Conquer vibes, which is a plus
- Omega: most appealing dial, but I already have an Omega, not AT though
- Seiko: dial also goes in C&C direction, otherwise the indices and logo give me some kind of soulless vibe. Have another Seiko that I like, though

I find the Oris the most visually interesting. The seiko's hands seem too long and the indices are boring, but the dial itself is the coolest.

Omega is awful on every level aside from finishing, the white day window is disgusting, the hand choices are bizarre, they look like they're all from different sets. Formex just looks like a brick wall with an over-designed case, I'm not feeling it.

Also what's really difficult is that there are few shots of the watches available from afar. Formex looks great from a distance in the blue or green version, so does Omega. At first I hated it as an Oyster knock-off, now it appeals a little more to me. The Oris is pretty busy overall. I'll try to see the models in person, too

I like the green on the Air King, but the Explorer 40mm is way more of a "one and done" Rolex. It just shits on everything from Oyster Perpetuals, to Milgauss, Air King, any older variation of the Explorer. The only cope I have as a 114270 owner, is I can argue it's still a better proportioned (arguable) Explorer than the 36mm 124270 or this new 40mm 224270.

The Air King was never a good watch after the 1970s. It was 34mm and Rolex wouldn't even submit them for chronometer certification, some of the last watches Rolex did that with. They were for absolutely scraping the bottom of the entry-level barrel.
Now that Rolex is an unabashed, pure luxury product, they don't need a line with such a shameful history.

Give an "expert" two identical but fake Submariners and ask him to tell which is fake, he'll swear up and down that "this one is fake, you can tell by the shape of the 's' in 'superlative chronometer'."

The way to tell a fake is by the movement. Apart from taking the caseback off and looking at it. Let a person wind it, play with the chronograph or the GMT hand, then you can tell how rough and shitty the fake is. But from just looking at it or trying it on? No. Rolex dials are very simple. Rolex cases and bracelets are very simple. That's by design, they're easier for Rolex to manufacture.

No. In the old days, they did solid casebacks because that was the norm. They stuck with it when everyone else went to sapphire casebacks because it was cheaper.
