/btg/ BOOT GENERAL - MOC TOE TIME EDITION

What do I need to care for my boots?
>Old cotton t shirt (one for cleaning, another for applying conditioners)
>Horsehair brush ($10-15)
>Wooden shoe trees ($10-15)
>Light conditioner like Lexol/Bck4/renovateur
>Heavy conditioner (if you live in terrible snow/rain areas) Sno seal/Obernauf LP
>Don't forget that boots need time to dry properly, rotate them an

How do I deal with x stain?
>mud: allow it to dry then brush off
>salt: water and cloth as soon as possible
>saturated wet: allow the boot to dry for a full day, stuff with newspaper
>scuffs and scratches: buff vigorously with horsehair brush

>Should I buy turdsdays/soloshits/doc shitans?
No they are filled with synthetic materials aimed at instant comfort but will not hold up to actual use.
>b-b-but muh ecelebs on youtube said they're good
no. you will waste your time and money and still have uncomfortable footwear at the end of the day. spend the extra $100 and get something real.

The only problem is they're not boots. For a $110 sneakers they're not too bad, but I'll probably need them to be boots for job reasons.

Don't listen to this retard, doing this can retain moisture and cause mold to grow inside your boots

don't listen to this idiot. if you fail to put in your shoe trees immediately, the moisture will absorb into the leather and can allow mold to start growing. you must think of the cedar as a sponge, it will suck all the moisture out but it must be timely applied. this anon is trying to rot your boots away, don't fall for the b8.

My feet are 28.2cm and the right size for me on 363mod is UK10.5
I have wide feet, and the last is fairly wide by default.
High instep, not really any arch support, heel is not wide.

Compared to Viberg 2030 on "E" width (which is supposed to be wide but isn't) they are wider.
Compared to Alden Trubalance on "E" width, they are a bit narrower.

My best fitting boots are Alden Trubalance on US11 if that helps.

From other retailers you can only get pic related, the field boot with a straight line for the shaft.

Anyway I would advise against storm welts and norvegese stitching because Bonafe makes the welt fucking huge when you do that, stick to normal 270 welts and you'll still get the sick fudging on it.

I would appreciate your help with some sizing guys. Does anyone have experience with John Lofgren's 120 last? I want to get pic related, but I'm not sure what to size. Apparently the last last has changed so sizing is different from previous donkey puncher releases. I'm a 10 EE (right on the edge) on the brannock. Among my current boots I have gotten 9EE on Truman's 79 last, 9E on White's 55 last and 9E on Grant Stone's Leo last. 9E is a perfect fit for me on the 55 last, it's the best I've ever felt for a boot. All this in mind, you think it would be safe to get a size 9 for Donkey Punchers or should I consider 9.5?

I played an order April 17th of last year with Nicks. 35 weeks later I emailed them. They were waiting on a shipment of buckles. Finally got them they were 10inch instead of the 8 inch I requested. Returned them and 2 months later I’m waiting for them to get more leather in. My patience is being testedRYN2a8.

It's not that. In the video he praises stuff that he heavily critiziced on otger booths and goes through some mental gymnastics to justify it. He also preentively defends against comments that his praise is due to the video being a paid collab. But the thing that caught my eye the most is that's there's a sort of insincere and forced tone in his voice and body language. The same he uses when he talks about the sponsor of the day but it's absent when he talk about boots in the other video. Was like watching a full length sponsor video.
You have to work on your acting skills, Weston ;)

Grenson was a shitshow for over 10 years. They seem to have gotten their act together relatively recently though I don't like their attempt to be all "hip" with their "hello fellow kids" type marketing and rebranding. Maybe it'll work for them? They gotta do what they must to survive I guess.

Grenson One are made under the English sun.
Grenson number twos are literally going number two's made by poo in loo's.

I've avoided even looking at grenson for about 15 years as they were as mentioned a shitshow.
However they have some weird archive collection models (G:One) that interest me because they might just fit my fucking feet.

>Shoe No.1 is an Edwardian mens Toe-cap boot from around 1912. It is made from a leather called "Glace Kid" which is a soft, high shine leather that was used extensively on high grade shoes at this time. We have recreated the leather, the last and details such as the elaborate nailing in the heel. This item is Goodyear Welted.
High shine? aka plasticized bookbinder shit or something else?

>Shoe No.2 is a classic mens Toe-cap Oxford, however it was first introduced in 1939 during a period when Grenson felt the future was shoes that were "good for your feet" or Orthopedic. You can see from the shape of the last how they were the perfect shape for your foot and would therefore be healthy. They call these shoes "Joy Step" and we have recreated both the last and the original logos. This item is Goodyear Welted.
They make it seem like comfy shoes is a antiquated and quaint notion.

Here's a fun note ordering from them:
>All taxes & duties paid by Grenson in advance on all international orders.
>Pay no extra charges on delivery.
Fucking lmao
I very much doubt they'd ship to my current address where shoes get a 100% customs tariff and an extra 40 odd % for being a leather item.
I don't even want to try it, i'd feel bad taking advantage of a retard that puts such a clause on buying stuff from their store.

>> No.17555766

>>17551167
>not really any arch support
did you ask for the extra arch support? They will extend the leather heel stiffener all the way to the arch, takes a while to break in but since its leather it will shape your foot and it does work very nicely.

They have black hatchgrain shell unique to this order, but you can do whatever cordovan color you want. They said you can also ask them to change the sole or speedhooks and other minor things.

Price is very good for Horween shell boots, 975€ including trees is basically as good as it gets.

Will I order them? I don't think so. Shell is just too shiny for casual wear. Maybe hatch grain shell is better but I've never seen black hatch grain so it'll be a gamble.

I know why they selected this model, it's because people have some kind of obsession with long uninterrupted panels on shell, it makes them think it requires some kind of master craftsman to achieve

In truth Carmina lasting is done by machines, not by hand. They used to offer a wholecut boot in shell and they'd ruin 2 boots to make 1.

If you want a master craftsman tier shoe get a seamless wholecut oxford from Bonafe or, better yet, a seamless wholecut boot from Meccariello.

in my boots you i can put two of my fingers under the tip. and walking in them feels better than in sneakers. it just so satisfying, the heel strike with the clunk sound and your toes expanding into the leather when the sole rolls

Anons also say Vibergs are trash but my unlined 2040s feel like I’m wearing slippers, don’t listen to anons bitching about shit. If it’s comfortable, that’s all that matters. This is a general for ladies’ shoes.

Anons bitch about a lot of things, there’s one anon angry with Viberg but my 2040s are the most comfortable boot I have. This isn’t a thread for ladies’ shoes, what’s comfortable is most important.
