Are cold weather fragrances even real? I get that certain fragrances fit the overall vibe of autumn or winter maybe even specifically christmas. but when are you ever actually in the cold for hours at a time? these often heavy and sweet fragrances can become cloying and few would wear them in warmer weather but are you not... inside when it is cold most of the time? at someones house your place of work, the supermarket etc. those places have temps that are closer to spring or summer evenings.

Want something similar in feel/smell to Green Irish Tweed without being a tweak of it like vintage Cool Water or Bond No 9, and not a clone of is like Tres Nuit or Egra. I don't want to smell like exactly like GIT, I want something green, fresh with a little musk at the base. Is there anything similar or should I just shut the fuck up and buy GIT again?

Before anyone suggests in Carven L'eau Intense was damn close to what I want, just a little too sweet but it was on the right track.

I'm currently looking for something similar myself. Which type of roses do you enjoy? I currently have Parfum d'Empire's Le Cri ready, but looking for something more expressive, too. Fragrances that I have considered:

>Rose de Jamal
I enjoyed it, but the combination of mint and the rose can be a bit off putting with even one spray too much. Other than that, I thought it was a perfect pick for summery rose.

>No 88 by Czech and Speake
A classic rose, don't think you can go wrong with this.

Others that I will be sampling in the upcoming weeks:
>Amnesia Rose by Aedes de Venustas
Might be a little too dense for summer.

>Signature Rose by Zaharoff
Just based on the amber+rose combo that I adore, but Zaharoff itself as a house is a little suspicious due to their way of marketing.

>Le Mat by Menditterosa
A classic.

>Straight, gay... These words are irrelevant here. Tom of Finland is beyond sexuality - he is sex, in all its fullness and magnitude, open and erect. Fantasy clings to him like his leather jacket, with suede, musk, and ambergray in the base notes. His belt is fastened with an accord of pepper and spicy-fresh saffron, tangled with a blond suede sensuality on a vanilla bed of tonka bean and iris. This is a man who wants to play, to love, to die and be reborn, again and again. Tom of Finland is a tribute to tomorrow’s glorious possibilities.

Seething groid mad that arabs are dunking on IFRA-era frags
Which is not saying much but hey
>Something in the same genre/style
Aqua Fahrenheit somewhat went that way with toned down violet leaves from its original DNA, which just means it didn't smell like gasoline, then put some citrus and mint on a base of vetiver and supposedly leather but i didn't smell it that much if at all in comparison to the original bottle.
Shame it's discontinued because i loved it but supposedly Mercedes Benz Sport smells like it, except vetiver chemical base moved to patchouli chemical base, also Alfred Dunhill Fresh goes for that route but this last one is a batch loonie that also doesn't last, that one i checked and it's practically a blind buy. These are considered fresh fougeres so same genre but if i learned something is that fougere is used strangely, i would not put Kouros and Cool Water in the same bag despite being considered such.

I have yet to get a comliment for any of my frags. I don't see a lot of people besides work, the gym and occacional dinners at my moms place to be fair, but sometimes I go out to drink with friends.
I got this fear of using too much and getting negative reactions from anyone so I've always only done one spray around chest/upper stomach area and one at the back of my neck area.
I own:
Paco Rabanne 1 Million Parfum that I almost never use anymore.
A Dior Eau de toilette
Farhenheit de toilette
Terre d'Hermès Pure Perfume

I used to have a Le Male

A little over an hour in now and the light Tonka/musk is coming in but the weird mid note is still there. Probably the closest to what I want so far otherwise. Wouldn’t buy a full bottle.

>reasons for well selling, great smelling frags to be discontinued
No one knows but it ranges from key ingredient producer being axed itself, some bizarre internal grudge between perfumer lab rights and the house rights (IFF vs. Dior) or merely to streamline something under a new boss.
Cologne OG going away seems to be a flankerization strategy, Come Together is just one among 5 or 6 of those.

>>17550630
If he wants to smell Y2K he needs frags from that era, which means Cool Water, CK One or even CK2 which is inspired from the sub-genre itself, even Mugler Cologne fits here. And to be fair there's nothing more Y2K than cheap clone shop custom frags that use skin-irritant alcohol.

Wearing Rien Intense on one arm and Experimentum Crucis on the other. One spray each and my nose has been under assault for the past two hours. my god these are strong. Rien smells like old soap mixed together with incense ash -- a respectable scent but not for me. I can picture this smelling much better and palatable in the air than it does directly on skin.
Experimentum Crucis smells like rose but with a lot of depth I can't explain. It just teeters along the edge of grandma yet very versatile and unisex. Will wear again

Going to buy some Fougere, having never bought any fougere before. Here is what I selected for samples:

>Houbigant: Fougere Royale
>Rogue Perfumery: Bon Monsieur
>Tom Ford: Beau du Jour
>Pascal Morabito: Or Black
>Penhaligon's: Sartorial

Any of these not worth trying or better of replacing with any frag? For reference, I generally like heavier, darker, louder fragrances, like Jubilation XXV, Incense Oud, Grand Soir, and even Red Tobacco. Still looking for frags I can wear in spring and summer, what with them approaching, too, though.

Bon Monsieur is the only one of those I've tried and I gave it a B (like, not love).
Boucheron pour homme is excellent.
Cerruti 1881 as well. All of its flankers suck but the original is great.
I don't see the point of buying a pricey niche one when there's so many great ones under $50, or if you want to spend more get vintage versions of the classics.

Based fougeres. Add Eau Sauvage Parfum, it sits somewhere between fougere and chypre and is different enough to them all. Not necessarily "dark", but the way it smells in the air is just amazing.

Terre d'Hermes is the generic safe recommendation for a man. Offends nobody, but it's still a little interesting.
Acqua Di Parma - Colonia Essenza is another safe recommendation. Lemons and soap, but it's just really good. Can usually be had for a good price on discounters.
Davidoff - Zino is the king of the cheapies. You should be able to find it for between $20-30 on discounters. Go to the mall and smell Tom Ford Beau Du Jour because it smells 90% as good as that.
