>>17512547White and light blue are good and as basic as you can get. University stripes are the go-to patterned option.Kamakura has shirts around that price range which are said to be pretty good. I don't have personal experience with them though as most of my wardrobe is thrifted
>>17512548From what ive read, even back in the day chinos were lower rise compared to slacks/suit pants. Its not easy to find chinos with a super high rise. But its still good to get them above the hips at least.>>17512547The cheapest OCBD's will have shitty collars that don't have the proper shape to frame your face and look appealing. >>17518059>can men wear teh Barbour Beadnell jacketSure. If the buttons are on the men's side.
Wasn't worth its own thread & there's no menswear thread:It's Monday morning. Last night I was invited to a black tie event on Saturday night 3/11. I need a tux. My proportions are kind of weird; I'm slightly "jacked" so most jackets don't fit off the rack, but I know shortening the sleeves on a jacket can be done in that time frame. I would prefer investing in a good black-tie outfit over renting some mediocre thing from Men's Wearhouse, and I can spend up to $1500. I am in NYC. What do you think are my best options?
>>17518197hello NYC bro. i was going to suggest 2nd hand, but with your time crunch the only option really is to rent

>>17518059There's no problem with it. However women's coats usually come in at the waist. Not sure if Barbour do this also, but it would look odd plus it would run tighter. For 80 quid you could always take a punt on it and if it doesn't fit/look good just sell it on.

>>17515970nice jacket, patch pockets are a classic. Don’t really like the tie. Ties should complement or outright match the colors of the jacket and slacks. Don’t get involved in the “power tie” meme. more of a personal taste matter, but button down shirt collars are not.. good. They tend to look disheveled. the wrinkled collar here is a massive eyesore and destroys the whole fit. Slacks are unremarkable. Recommend a nice tan/olive flannel, single or double pleated high rise slack. Also personal taste reallybut, French cuffs look very sharp as opposed to just regular old convertible or barrel cuffs.>>17515972Colors and tie actually work great here. See previous comment on slacks. Only real critique I have is that the jacket quite obviously appears to be polyester, or a blend. Whole thing has these wavy wrinkles... Looks sorta cheap. Might look better freshly dry cleaned, otherwise I recommend a wool sportcoat, specifically tweed? >>17517083Looking great!! Fundamentals here are fantastic. I would prefer a more subdued tie but that’s all personal taste, also again with the button down collar and I’d prefer to see a French cuff. Slacks here are great and on the money! I like dressing like this for work, but not outside of it. I think it's funny. My coworkers wear those new golf shirts made from synthetic, 3/4 zips sweaters and slim fit pants with stretch and synthetic material. I hate it.I like to think I dress like a 1960 ivy league professor. It's my way to rebel and dress cool. If I have to dress up like a dork. Might as well have fun with it. Typical: Brooks Brothers oxford with wool crew neck sweater, if cold. Regular fit chinos/slacksPenny loafers.Timex on a NATO strapI'm looking to go more all out. Upgrading with jackets and blazers on Ebay and thrift stores. Maybe some ties. Better shoes. Wool trousers. Any recommendations? I love J Press anything, but it's so expensive.

What do you guys think of this technique. Because most sweaters are much longer than the waist, i have taken to rolling & tucking them in in the back only (when wearing a jacket). That way you get the benefit of higher waist without the weird look of a tucked sweater.

>>17523611"Mogging" is /fit/ term used by trenfreaks with huge physics.
kek @ the seethe from an outfit i threw together show milsurp & /tip/ dont work
fyi tip rules:things that are not TIP:>anything black>any shirt without buttons>any pants that are not chinos>jeans>aviator glasses>bowlers caps>doc martens>surplus jackets>basketball shoes>bluejeans>mustaches>anything with alligator patterns>athleisure/sweatpants>strawhats>makeup (for women)>gold teeth or other teeth metals>any music other than classical or jazz>television>professional sports (NBA NFL MLB etc)things that are TIP coming soon
>>17512843That is really awful.>ditch jacket>pair socks with either trouser or shoe color>ditch stormwelted sole shoes>get goodyear or blake stitch dress shoe>or go with boots
>>17513764I had the same problem, as I have unusually wide feet for my shoe size. So I have some practical advice for you or anyone whose feet are outside the norm.It is elaborate and cumbersome, but will work.Find yourself a or multiple manufacturers, which offers shoes made from different lasts. Order all the shoes from the different lasts that might fit you in two sizes and widths (if available), wear them at home for a while (mind you dont wear the outsoles) and return them. Eventually you will find a last and size that will come closest to your own foot. Now you will be able to order different styles of shoe all made on the same last for a long time. The reputable manufacturers never ditch them.
>>17518653>100Fuck, it's closer to 170 offline. Not including prescription. Am I missing some sales or something?
>>17524526Comfy>>17525412Just at a glance, "any pants that are not chinos" is insane, even disregarding the fact that jeans can work fine in this style, since corduroy and wool slacks existYou sound like a newfag that doesnt really understand this stuff but wants to go as hard as possible
>>17525831This an RL ad? I never buy sweaters in bright colors like that because i assume it wouldnt work with my other clothes, but they make it look good.
>>17526162>Just at a glance, "any pants that are not chinos" is insane, even disregarding the fact that jeans can work fine in this style, since corduroy and wool slacks existits a joke post, i guess you fell for it. mustaches? come on man
are jos a bank suits shit quality? are they tailored? I need a navy and charcoal suit but I don't really feel like dropping $4k on clothing right now
>>17526226Its hard to tell whats bait on here sometimes considering the quality of some posters
>>17526232I was just trying to bump the thread desu, it was a weak attempt at bait. In bad taste, and I apologize to everyone in this thread. I'm getting too accustomed to the bait posts in the boot thread, its full of them. People here must have higher etiquette and manners than to create bait posts. Have a fine day Good Sir.
how to explain to my tailor i want pic related?
>>17526354You show him pic related and ask if he has ever done a similar garment.
Just got jacket, could use some alteration
>>17526453are you the tranny?
>>17522535I've gotten /fit/ again and want to show off. Can't do that easily with a shirt.

>>17526230>are jos a bank suits shit quality?Yes. It will not last. But still maybe useful for your situation and budget.
>>17527154goodwhat are these?
what brand of jewellery do I buy to not look cheap?I want to gently introduce myself into wearing armbands and ring(s) but I don't really want a plain 20 euros kit made out of literal garbage. On the other hand side I'm not wealthy enough to buy rings for 250 or some shit. What's a respectable middleground?
>>17512390How do my wife and I redo our wardrobe in a TIP manner? No, I won’t get rid of the earrings. Saying that right now. Earrings can be TIP.
>>17512541>i'm a 23yo malecome back in about 10 years zoomie, this style isn't for you
>>17527485It's too late for you
>>17512390Are the LL beans boots still a good option to style?
Advice on where to get inexpensive 100% wool suits? I'm a commercial banker so I wear one every day. I've been buying Spier and Mackay but their new half-canvas stuff looks awful. I'd like to keep under $600.And yes, the stereotypes about us are true. Every time I go to a corporate meeting with other bankers from the region I'm absolutely appalled at how terrible everyone looks. It's nothing but shiny fused Alfani suits with pin stripes and bedraggled ties with four-in-hand knots that look like they're only ever loosened and hung up as-is.
>>17527166Paraboot Allegro https://www.paraboot.com/homme/richelieus/allegrocuir-pasqcuir-pasq-lis-noir
Just bought a charcoal cardigan. Tell me what to wear it with.
>>17518096 >>17518284 >>17518489 >>17522536I almost gave up on the cross-dressing idea and decided to look for a new Bedale until I realised that Barbour restricts their products from being exported outside of teh UK, the EU, and on some websites the US.Picrel is the British pajeet PM wearing a Beadnell just fine which is quite reassuring. 90%+ of people wouldn't notice the buttons anyway.
Idk if this is the right thread, but almost everyone in Zogwarts Legacy wears a tie with a wing tip collar. Do you think that would that work in real life? It looks cool to me
Does /tip/ like birdseye?
>>17512997looks good to me if the cut is right
>>17528758>>>/v/>>17528844finally a nice suit fit pic
>>17528844Very good, not too tip though. Maybe because of the tie.
>>17529036tie is the most /tip/ part of the fit. the knot and collar aren't very /tip/, the suit cut is too fitted. still a great fit
>>17529040>tie is the most /tip/Nope. Look like a 4th of July souvenir.
>>17529036Foulard ties are objectively /TIP/
>>17529132>Foulard tiesThis one does not look like one. Looks like a maga accessory.
>>17528844Suit and shirt look good. Not a huge fan of the tie. The pattern is a bit much for a fairly conservative outfit IMO. The right pocket square might help.
>>17512556others may disagree but personally I like my pair of clarks. the construction leaves a lot to be desired in terms of durability, but they're very comfortable and they look nice. You can dress them up or down pretty easily. They have sales sometimes and I got mine for $50.
>>17514298based beyond belief.>>17514482well, it's tradition here
>>17518613whatever you get it better be tortoiseshell instead of black plastic
>>17528535Suitsupply? It all seems a bit slim fitting, but maybe I'm wrong.
>>17528758Depends, if everyone already knows you as the sartorial/preppy/classy guy, you might get away with it. But consider this: All those different detachable starched collars came from a time where suits were quite different. Way higher closing, way less shirt visible, etc. Found a pic of the last German Emperor and his son, where you have a wingtip collar and a higher rise folding one. If you dont match or approach the overall look, it would just look goofy. So in this case better leave the wing collars for black and white tie.
>>17529021>>17529036>>17529040>>17529137>>17529173Thanks for the feedback. As for the tie, hopefully this ends the debate.
>>17529533what do you do with a blazer thats a size or so big though fits fine at the shoulderthese older looking ones always seem to have long sleeves and longer length
Last fit ITT ended up poorly but this should be better.
>>17529570/tip/>>17529600get a different blazer. tailoring coats is too much work 99% of the time>>17529613find a better setup, poor lighting and exposure make your pics shit
>>17528734Isn’t this guy like 5’3?
>>17529570>bb bought on sale bc nobody wanted it ends the debateThe tie is pleb maga garbage.
>>17529613Winter/fall jacket absolutely in discord with summer day colored pants.
