If you are still dressing like a high schooler, then some khakis and some button up shirts are all you need, assuming you have a pair of leather shoes. If you need shoes, for your first pair don't go for something too formal. Either a plain toe boot or a blucher style shoe.

There’s a happy medium between looking like you’re stuck in your teens and dressing what a 14 year old thinks an adult should dress like. Things like jeans and t-shirts are acceptable, you just have to pick ones that have a more mature style. For example, you shouldn’t wear a star wars graphic tee, but a well-fitting plain black tee is perfectly fine.

>> No.17511826

>>17511279
>Should I drop the Vans, jeans, and hoody?
Those are fine for doing yardwork or lounging around the house. Just don't wear them in public.

Personally, I think the most overlooked aspect of dressing like an adult is fit. Children don't wear well-fitting clothes because they're always growing. Mom buys them clothes a size too big to grow into and then the sleeves are too short before they know it.

At 30 you're done growing (assuming your weight doesn't fluctuate and you grow or shrink horizontally) so you can get clothes that actually conform to your body's contours.

>How should a 30 year old man be dressing?
This, on the other hand, is such a broad question. So much depends on lifestyle and location. There's no one answer.

A shitty-but-accurate tip is to start spending money. If you're 30, you should be well-established in your career by now. You're making decent money. Your peer group mates are making similar. No more bargain bin jeans and freebie t-shirts.

At 30 you should be wearing what you find interesting, what you like, or what you think communicates your values generally. That's it, there isn't very much more to it. The only thing you should avoid is trying to impress others with your purchases, so don't be a 30 year old hypebeast, but generally even 20 year olds should avoid this.
30 is a weird age for style because there seems to be this personal push to grow up at that age. You're solidly not a kid anymore, even though you still kind of feel like a kid, and you've hopefully got a real job at this point, so there's this weird internal monologue going on that's telling you that you can't wear shorts or plain t shirt anymore for some reason. The one other thing I can think to avoid at this age is trends, but even then if you like aspects of a current trend then use it, just don't trend hop unless you genuinely enjoy following the fashion meta and spending a lot of money of shit you'll get rid of before the next season.
Something you have to keep in mind is that this mindset lasts for probably like 5 years or so at the earliest, and almost completely falls off at 40 for 99% of dudes. At 40 the majority of dudes have reverted to jeans and t shirts again, only really wearing mature outfits when needed, which is honestly not a common occurrence.

If it fits into a wallet, you are poorfag.
Instead of carrying 200 grams of useless wallet proper man carries extra 200 grams of cash.

Yes. Turtlenecks, suits, and semi formal boots and shoes are very good. Knits and sportcoats too.
You should have never worn hoodies and vans

I turned 30. Some things I noticed.

Don't dress like you're 20. You should have some signal of maturity. But at the same time not looking like you're turning into an old man.

30 here
Black denim+black/olive/grey tee+boots is my default look. Sometimes I swap the tee for a white button down. For outerwear I rotate between an olive corduroy chore coat, an unstructured navy cotton blazer, and a black western snap overshirt

Well, I bought leather boots and a button up shirt. Felt nice in them so it wasnt the worst advice. My desire to wear different clothes has been a personal one not influenced from 4chan.

Never change your style. There's nothing more soi than a man who follows trends to the grave. Dress for the occasion with your style. If that means vans with an ocdb or some shit then that's what it means. Christmas dinner is not for conforming into being a geriatric, it's for dressing for Christmas with YOUR STYLE. If vans are your style then vans are universal. Fuck the agest bullshit

I'm 36 and people are always telling me I dress too OLD. I mostly just wear straight cut jeans, casual button up/pearl snap shirts, and western boots (pic related is a typical fit, disregard the gun) but everybody's always pushing me to wear black more, wear graphic tees and sportswear, etc. I don't really get it and I feel like I'm gonna look ridiculous dressing the way they want me to.
