Who makes good no BS leather combat boots? As in no lining, no zippers, no high heels or BS.

Seems like the only people who did them good where military contractors before the 00s.

>> No.17510548

Sturm Handels GmbH / Mil-tec. You want the M90s presumably. There's probably an equivalent USA equivalent if you look for military surplus stores.

I think I looked into that brand before, I think its another modern combat boot using shit ass synthetic materials like gore-tex. That shit is ironically worse than not having it once it gets soaked. Better to have a bare ass leather and let it dry, not too into the synthetic trend.

Cocoran makes them. I believe they were the original manufacturer of jump boots in WW2. I wore a pair as motorcycle boots for two years and and when I went to get them resoled the cobbler fucked them up. Once they broke in they felt like slippers. Crazy comfortable. I wore them hiking a few times and dint get blisters. You will need wool socks though.

Yeah thanks, I know about these. I think the reason those felt uncomfortable is because of the toe tip, being thicker. Thats my one issue with them. The toe caps look and that they are less exible at the end Aside maybe from the sole which may not have enought tracktion.

Also Im wondering how much fake coating stuff is on the leather. How do theseook once beat up a bit? Is it the usual thing where theres a big difference because of the coating?

Considering these newish almost cost the same price as a old boot been considering it. I do a lot of running/walking and shit and that cap is the only killer.

horrible when the plastic cracks + not good leather to start with so creasing will look bad

Are you the guy who owned a pair? Some coating I dont mind, like in the OP. You can sand it off if you wanted too its not so hard and redye it.

The toe cap's look and that they are less flexible* (at the toe end). Made a bunch of typos in my post.

Nah because once its scraped off it just shows the basic leather underneath like other normal boots. Dye is only to match the blackness of the of the rest of the boot. Small grit sandpaper doesnt dig in.

Would only be for the toe ends, not the whole boot. People have done it before. Even then I mostly wouldnt bother, but it could be done.

I'm the cocoran guy.

It's called polish. I wore the shit out of mine. Polished them once a month or so and they looked fine. Obviously they aren't going to look as good as a pair of redwings, but they really are a quality pair of boots. I've worn through many pairs of crap boots, and they usually end up breaking at the seams. If I can get to the point that I want to get them resoled, they must be pretty good.

>> No.17511061

>>17511057
Are you sure it's polish or coating? Coating is the stiff once its chipped or bruised it shoes the leather underneath, usually a lighter color, you can see the coating as it has a slightly higher height where its bruised.

If its just polish that way from factory then its cool since you don't have to maintain it if you dont want to Really the only thing throwing me off is the damn toe caps. Fact you said it killed you hiking confirmed what I thought.

>> No.17511075

Forgot to mention, if you are okay with used boots, paramemes or ks90's will probably satisfactory and in that price range. No idea about austrian paratrooper boots but I had a pair of ks90s and they were tanks. They were also fuckin massive tho, so not the most fashionable.

>>17511190
This is a lie. Lots of good miltary boots for under 200. Particularly military contractors who made old boots that are still in production.

As many new boots use synthetic bs, since the trend now is to give the goons something they can replace cheaply when they die. Even then there's still old in production models.

A lot of the stuff driving up the price in high end boots is uneeded stuff. Like cushioning on openining, steel shanks, lining, etc. Many times those fashion boots arent the proper height.

Only thing you wont find anymore on military boots is a good year welt, and some argue a fused sole is more water resistant, and last longer. And if you really wanted you could get one put on after the welt runs out. Only thing better in higher end boots are the leather.

If you're okay with or interested in speedlace, Mcrae still makes their classic style all black leather speedlace combat boots and they're pretty easy to find online on Amazon and elsewhere for 100-150 dollars range. Good quality made in USA and its the style that was worn with woodland BDUs.

They worked just fine for working outside, and around the factory. They looked like that, after just a real year of work. I'd recommend the non-steeltoe version, but it seems this whole make of Bates has been discontinued for years. I'd get some black Bellevilles hot weather boots if I was you. I like my regular tan ones, and they're still holding tough after 9-10 years

>> No.17512712

Steel toe, even just the normal cap toe with just an extra added layer of leather is impractical for long distance walking, running, and so on. Im sure theyre more than fine for work where you have to be on your feet all day and move, just because of the overall construction/design. But thats not exactly the same as miles long walks and so on.

I considered the hot weather boots, problem is I need something more universal all year round, so would have to be full leather.
