You're free to feel that way. Obviously we're all going to have different interpretations of the idea because there's no real set definition for what neofolk is. However, I would at least ask that you give examples of your own interpretation, otherwise this just becomes a defeatist exercise.

Not even images if necessary. At least present some alternative ideas to help move the discussion along. Maybe if you post some better ideas, I'll be able to understand the flaws in my interpretation and will adjust my tastes accordingly. (I can appreciate why you think my image was too diffuse or related)

I find the discussion of what is neofolk pretty dumb, since as the other anon said it's not set in stone. Most people that post the "aestethic" anywhere know it's open ended with themes of gothic, war time europe, melancholy and a bit of the occult.
