At what age should you start dressing more adult?
I'm 26 and recently decided to get a mullet fade. Although it particularly looks shitty on me, I feel like an over grown child. I have a white collar job and am recognizing I need to stop dressing and looking childish.

Is 26 the cut off? It seems like the reddit consensus is you're never too old for anything but that seems wrong

26 is unironically the cutoff. Grow the fuck up faggot.

If you really care about fitting in, pay attention to 2 signs: when you feel weird around others and when people stop assuming you're in your late teens/early 20s

>> No.17463193

IT IS NOT ABOUT WHAT YOU WEAR, BUT ABOUT HOW YOU WEAR IT; NOT ABOUT HOW OLD YOU ARE, BUT ABOUT HOW YOU CARRY YOURSELF: IF YOU ARE IMMATURE, AND COMPORT YOURSELF PUERILELY, DRESSING «LIKE AN ADULT» —REGARDLESS OF WHATEVER THAT MEANS— WILL MAKE YOU SEEM ABSURD; THE SAME CONVERSELY.

Wow you are capable of making smart posts. Impressing. But yeah, this. I'm 30 but party all summer and work a blue collar job. I wear fake versace and sport a mullet, also got a baby face so I look 25ish. It's all about context. I shit you not any work site I show up to, the mullet is works like credentials, as soon as anyone sees it they listen to what I say without question, and at parties girls love to touch it. I doubt I would get away with this is I went the way of being an accountant my parents layed out for me.

Semi-related: I'm looking for a more adult casual shoe that can be worn with slacks or potentially with shorts. I feel like I'm too old to wear running shoes or some trendy basketball shoe casually.

Thoughts on these?

Ah yes the ''I have given up'' sneaker. If you're considering those shoes might aswell consider buckshot mouthwash.

Yeah obviously the only choice instesd of tasteless NPC shoes are jordans, you fucking retard. The fact that you said they're fine means you have no business giving anyone any advice. Those shoes are anything but fine. Sock runners are only worn by laggards and pajeets. No one with a shred of taste would wear those. Even fucking killshots or CPs, as much as I hate them, would be a better choice.

In all seriousness, how old are you? No one above the age of 27 should be wearing shoes with massive brand logos on them.

Either go full ''grown up'' with normal leather shoes or wear regular tennis shoes instead of those things that don't do either thing well. If you want to wear comfy sneakers, get yourself some newbalance that show you don't give a shit and want something comfortable. You want to be an ''adult''? Get normal leather shoes. Don't half ass things, do them well or don't do them at all.

While I agree with you that's not exactly the best example to post. I'm not a fan of shoes that have a colorway that looks like they were inspired by a parrot.

Honestly depends how you age. There’s motherfuckers who are in their mid 20s who look like they’re in their mid 30s and I cringe seeing them dress young. Conversely, you can be in your mid 30s and look like your in your mid 20s

Why do you even worry about it? My style has naturally evolved over the years in a pleasant way, it will continue to do so without forcing it or overthinking, just go with the flow

>> No.17463965

I don't think you should dress necessarily for an "age," per se. I think your taste generally shifts with age naturally. Some people, however, have crises of identity and feel the need to emulate younger people.

By the time you are in your mid 20s you should have developed your own style and refined your taste for something you can sustained that is both good looking and appealing to you as well as relatively socially acceptable.
Trend hopping in your youth isnt bad. It helps you understand what you actually like and what looks best on you. After this period of experimentation you should understand your own taste enough to build a good wardrobe. This doesn't mean you need to be a typical 'adult' npc tho.

This being said, some people think that being mature means you shouldn't care about your appearance anymore. They basically give up and start wearing cheap ugly shit with pride because they supposedly grew out of being fashionable. That's the worst outcome

When this episode aired Steve Buscemi was 55 years old. If you gave this outfit to Tony Hawk, who's only a year younger, no one would think it was lame, because even while being well into middle age Tony Hawk is still a cool skater. LARP'ing is ok when you're a teenager/young adult because it's the age where you're supposed to experiment with shit; there's a lot less leniency awarded to older people because by then you're expected to have a better insight into the kind of person you are, so if you wanna have an eccentric wardrobe you better have the personality to match it.
