Is it worth to resole a boot?

If it's good year welted and the leather is in good condition why not?

It's expensive

Do the math and find out how much it will cost to resole vs buying the same boot again outright. Then determine whether the difference is worth it to you.

>> No.17456383

Is it a cheap piece of shit you picked up at walmart? No. Is it a good leather boot that you wear often? Yes. I have nice expensive leather boots I wear semi often. I will get them resoled when it needs it because the boots are worth it.

My local guy did a resole on my meme rangers for $40.

IF IT IS FROM THE SEVENTIES DECADE OF THE TWENTIETH CENTURY, OR FROM BEFORE, YES; IF FROM THE EIGHTIES ONWARD, NO: EVERYTHING SINCE THIS LATTER DECADE IS MADE TO BE VIRTUALLY DISPOSABLE.

You really don't know shit about shit do you. There are plenty of modern boots that are high quality and can be resoled. How do you so proudly post such inane drivel?

EASIER & CHEAPER TO BUY A NEW PAIR.

>> No.17456488

Most of my work boots before I changed profession and could actually wear nice shit were wrecked upper to lower by concrete by the time the soles wore out so it was more economical to just buy new cheap boots every year. My brother has and it's really not bad, especially if you have a shoemaker that lives near you. Most of them can do a fine job with regular boots. If you buy expensive bespoke boots just go to the manufacturer, otherwise it's maybe a quarter the cost of the boot. More important is taking proper care of the upper leather so it stays in good shape.

Yeah so much cheaper to buh a new pair of White's. You're a poor moron who doesn't know what he's talking about.

Actually try to find nice shit and you just might. Plenty of nice manufacturers of almost heirloom quality footwear out there.

sauce on boots? or an equivalent in black? (nice practical look, not as larpy as paramemes and not as onions as your average workwear)

If you like the boots, the uppers are still in good condition and it represents value for money.

If you buy good quality boots the manufacturer will often do a refurbishment service.

I had a pair of Grenson shoes resoled and had a different sole put on and they came back like new.

>> No.17456632

Yes, if its a good boot.

You should regularly polish and condition your boots, weatherproof them occasionally and have them resoled when you notice substantial wear.

If you are buying a shoe that originally comes with a leather sole (guidis, MA+), it's worth getting a rubber sole protector slapped on there pretty much straight away. It will increase the longevity of the shoe substantially, helps to waterproof and slip-proof it.

Not quite as nice as the boots in the OP but Red Wing has a decent selection in 8inch; believe they sell them in black as well. Seconding the request on a sauce for those boots, I couldn't find them.
