Yes and no, you basically have to get some emory boards (sand paper on foam sticks) and gradually sand down the material to the scratch level, then polish and buff to the level of shine that you want. Wristwatch revival did a video on how to do it, including high polish mid-links and how not to fuck that up. Not super difficult, but its time consuming.

Yeah, the size trend alone is awful. Why 40mm watches is the smallest you can generally get is irritating. ~35mm was a great size that you could read the time, not have a bulky knock into everything piece of jewelry on your wrist. Normies wanted a thing to put diamonds and other bullshit on, or express their individuality with mass produced crap. MVMT are supposedly alright, but at the heart of it all, its just a quartz watch, $20 movement, and a weird dial/face/case that will not look good in 20 years. Sinn has majorly upped their prices, especially in the american market. Stowa is still better priced for same quality.

But the real gem is Damasko. They used to make the cases and various parts for Sinn until Sinn cheaped out and started making models with generic parts. Damasko stuff has super tight tolerances, perfect QC, and similar style. Definitely worth checking out.

I don't like Swiss watches, the cheaper ones fair enough but anyone spending over about a grand on a watch who isn't making absolute megabux is just absurd in my view. When I see guys wearing expensive Swiss watches I instantly think to myself "weird maladjusted cunt", because so often they are, you know that kind of weird overly manicured yet socially awkward arab type guy who drives a big merc but works in a call center or something, all flash no substance. I would honestly feel embarrassed to wear an expensive Swiss watch, it would be like owning a neon underlit black g-wagen with spinning rims. Japanese watches to me are beautiful, a little understated and priced as though they are being sold for people to actually regularly wear while going about a normal life without worrying about damaging it. I loved the Louis Erard/Silberstein collab but those have been sold out for a minute now. Ironically had a chance to grab one for close to retail but also had a chance to get a GMT Master II for retail at the same time, and like a simp I went for the Rolex. I felt I couldnt justify two expensive watches in the same week so didnt pull the trigger on the Erard, and now I'll probably never get one. Annoying af.

The bell and ross one is okay, but I feel like its a bit of a rip of the louis erard one. The industrial styling of the case clashes with Silberstein's aesthetic, in my mind at least. Still might cop tho.

Most automatic chronos in this price range just use generic valjoux movements, and as a result all have the same 6-9-12 generic subdial layout (like my DC66). Damasko had to make this movement in-house, and to my knowledge there isn't another chrono like this currently on market.

I don't think you really need to clean it monthly unless its getting really dirty for some reason. Regardless, I bought an ultrasonic cleaner cheap on amazon. Works great for getting all the little areas near the crown and in the bracelet.

I bought a f30 bmw that was CPO for 22k, it has all the features I wanted and was manual. Took it to the track multiple times and owned it for 5 years while paying almost nothing for repairs or maintenance (even had free oil changes). Sold it for 16k.
