Some of you fags need a reality check, you've gone too far down the rabbit hole. You autistically obsess over fragrances and label them as being either good or shit (no middle ground), as being for summer or winter, for this occasion or that occasion, etc. The fact is 99% of fragrances smell nice and for the most part it doesn't matter what you spray on yourself. If you're attractive then smelling good is just the cherry on top (pretty much any fragrance will do). If you're some ugly loser it doesn't matter if you're wearing a ridiculously expensive niche fragrance or a mass-pleasing compliment-getter, ultimately you're still an ugly loser.

Kenzo Homme EDP is really growing on me, I think it may be the meta "blue" scent. That fresh showergel patchouli is really giving me nostalgia for the early-mid 200s in middle school wearing Axe and shit. This stuff does everything Dylan Blue does but 10000x better and without any ambroxan, lasts longer and actually evolves throughout the day to boot. I thought I liked the EDT Intense more but idk anymore

My fragrance journey

Eau Sauvage: Bought in person inbetween one of our many oppresive lockdowns in Canada. Nice scent but lacking in projection and longevity. Probably good for working in an office.

Zoologist 10ml travel sprays: Blind bought a 5 pack during the second lockdown when I could not shop in person. Got Camel and Hummingbird to give for my parents for Christmas and got Moth, Rhino and Camel for myself. Moth is the most transitory fragrance I ever smelt. I think I am allergic to it tho. Camel is a great loud fragrance. I got Rhino cause I was interested in tobacco and booze but it doesn't smell like it at all. It came with a sample of Squid and I liked it so much I bought a travel spray. Very mysterious salty marine type scent without smelling like a teenager from the mid 2000s.

Dreamer (the new one): Smelt in person after second lockdown. Weird opening but I love the iris with white floral. I don't smell tobacco with the new version but the amber behind the floral is cool.

Une Amourette by ELDO: I asked for the ELDO sample set for Christmas and I picked this one to purchase. I was looking for an incense one but skipped Marquis de Sade and Rien and got this one. It's not incense but it has like, the vibe of incense. Like it in Dec, Jan, Feb when it's dark out. (Cont.)

Fellow europoor here, i would stray away from aventus clones just because they are everywhere and don't exactly make you smell "preppy" or rich. Creed is a more modern fragrance and i would go for a classic fragrance like Dior Eau Sauvage or a more modern fragrance like Terre D'Hermes. Both are designer but they are not super expensive.

If your options are Grand Soir, Interlude Man and ACDD, you should most definitely get GS or ACDD - Interlude is not that versatile. The problem is that GS nor ACDD are very wearable in higher temperatures; thus, I would get a bottle of GS and something lighter for summer. LADDM is very close to ACDD, just get one of the two.

The EdP and the Intense are the best, but still pretty tame gourmand fragrances. Some smooth and powdery creamy almond/cherry notes are present in all of them. The Extreme has a somewhat disgusting plum note in it, which is kinda loud compared to the rest of the line, but the drydown is still nice. My main problem is that they all sit skin-close. They might last, but you won't project.

Ameer al Oudh intense oud for me is water. I had 13 sprays and went into a room with my family at Christmas and no one even said anything not my parents not my grandma. Maybe I just got a bad batch.

I also have Assad which smells really kinda meh. The only good performance i got with lattafa frags was velvet oud which is really leathery but almost kinda feminine so idk where to wear that but i kinda like the leather.

It all smells like pudding, cookies, sweet alcohol and other stuff for kids and women. Fucking Polo Green has more youth to it than Oajan. My colleague wore it (either that or Killians Share), he's a young guy, and the impression that he makes wearing it is "I have a feminine hobby and spend significant amount of money trying to be posh". I don't know what convinced everybody that the smell of humans personal space is less attractive than a fucking cinabun and overweetened latte, but that's ridiculous. I'm assuming most of you are going for a traditionally masculine style, so wear something that reflects it. Most modern chypres and fougeres have some musk to them, it doesn't have to be Furyo

I had an aventus sample and a bottle of CDNI. The former smelled majestic, spectacular. That creamy nutty ambergris sounded authentic and natural.
The latter is more like a screechy mess, smells like low quality and doesnt resemble a lot aventus. Its more like a screechy citrusy leather. Its still a good perfume in a universal basis, but nowere near aventus. Btw after my experience kf the rabbit hole, avoid niche. Avoid internet sales. Avoid the less known. Real musk comes from hunting of a rare cervus species in the mountains of siveria and mongolia, everything else is artificial garbage. Musk also was the favourite perfume of prophet muhammad pbuh and said something like paradise will have a smell like musk.

Bortnikoff is more european like and craft more traditional perfumes like Musk Cologne, are easier in the price tag but still using the raw materials

That's already known, which is why real oakmoss has to be listed on the ingredient list (which mostly lists known allergens). There are many fragrances which still use it. Dakar has real oakmoss (Drakkar Noir has real treemoss), Sauvage Elixir, Bleu de Chanel and Pour Monsieur also have real oakmoss.
It doesn't guarantee any quality, though. New York Intense does not have real oakmoss, despite having it listed as a major note, but mogs many fragrances which have it.

You can wear whatever you want, whenever you want. Just be aware of how strong some scents can be in the heat/humidity. Hold back on sprays with the real sweet heavy stuff. Also avoid the ones that will fill a room with a single spray and leave a lasting trail wherever you go.

I'm near the Gulf in FL and use TF Oud Wood and D&G The One year round without issue.
They're both sweet, spicy, 'warm'. But they also stay close to you, so you dont punch everyone in the nose and throat with the smell.

Your best bet is to just go to Macys, Dillards, all those places and try a bunch. Again, just remember that the sweet and heavy stuff is going to seem even more intense outside in the heat/humidity.

I got bought wonderwood as a gift. Not really too keen on it. I much prefer Hinoki or Yoyogi for woody, green scents.

Avignon is in the thin black bottle. It’s quite strong stuff, but a nostalgic and favourite scent of mine. I’ve also tried Kyoto from the same line which is pretty nice, very heavy Asian incense smell.

Is there a list of companies that don't follow the IFRA guidelines? I'm looking for fragrances that I won't go nose-blind to or that will simply disappear in 2-4 hours. I have a few fragrances like this such as sauvage elixir, tom ford tobacco vanille, tuscan leather, original formula PDM layton, original formula GIT, and prada amber pour home from back in the day. I just bought tuxedo because I love it but I feel a little burned because it's fleeting.
