>> No.17431979

Some of you fags need a reality check, you've gone too far down the rabbit hole. You autistically obsess over fragrances and label them as being either good or shit (no middle ground), as being for summer or winter, for this occasion or that occasion, etc. The fact is 99% of fragrances smell nice and for the most part it doesn't matter what you spray on yourself. If you're attractive then smelling good is just the cherry on top (pretty much any fragrance will do). If you're some ugly loser it doesn't matter if you're wearing a ridiculously expensive niche fragrance or a mass-pleasing compliment-getter, ultimately you're still an ugly loser.

Hi, I want to give my 50 year old father a perfume. I want something I can find relatively easy, for less than 400 usd.

He is a hardworking man, he is simple, prefers beer over wine or whiskey. He has found success in a managerial role at a somewhat big company even though he never even finished hs. He is also a very good person.

I want to give him a fragrance that heightens his success and importance without betraying his identity. So nothing too fancy or too faggy.

I was thinking oud wood but it smells a little too refined desu, tobacco oud is to go to the whore house. Any recommendations? Any brand works, Ill be here, thanks.

...sort of.

Think of men's vs. women's dress codes. Men's fashion trends toward being a uniform with slight variations allowed for expression, like width of lapels or how flouncy your pocket square can be; while women can wear all sorts of shit.
Fragrance is no different. "Masculine" is woody, spicy, aromatic, leathery.

If you want to have some fun, wear something androgynous like Guerlain Mitsouko or outright feminine like Mugler Angel. People will smell it and assume it's masculine and pick out masculine notes from the fragrance.

That's what makes (made) fragrances like DHI or YSL M7 so interesting. It wasn't traditionally masculine at all but the person smelling the fragrance would project masculinity onto the scent based on the wearer.

No fragrance for your face.
Fragfags are cringe and it's such a dumb "hobby".
Just get the top 3 from the "compliment stats chart" excel [Creed, YSL, Le Male or something] and you will be maximizing pussy intake and minimizing expenditure and mental effort spent on this whole thing.
You really could just buy Creed and be done with it. Don't get Dior Sauvage, its good, but every male wears it these days.

Spending money on "stuff" is a dumb, lazy man's hobby. If you had hobby of creating perfumes, I'd say that's cool, but collecting is cringe and lame. It just shows you seek dopamine from buying stuff and lack brain to create anything of value or learn a skill.

Go to a store and sniff them, buy the one you like the most. There are multiple versions of each. With Bleu de Chanel, all of them are suitable for office use. With Dior Homme, you gotta make sure to get the right one, or you'll have an iris bomb that smells different than what you expect. With the Sauvages, only Elixir is somewhat different, but pretty much still office safe.

>>17433050
Wait for the opening to pass, and enjoy the powdery-woody drydown. People here wear it to special occasions, I wear it daily.

>>17433098

>>17433143
Haven't smelled Legesi but Eau de Passion smells like someone mixed 50% armpit sweat with the PE drydown. Not like PE. MMM At The Barber's is a spicier take on PE and while it lacks the metallic coldness, it is at least well made. Armaf has never made a clone that convinced me so I doubt they managed to get something matching Chanel quality.

>>17433458
You can like whatever you want. Why let others tell you what you like/don't like?

The The Scent line left me cold, but I could see why people like them. I'm just not big on fruity stuff. Boss Bottled is safe and wearable daily, smells good, lasts a whole 15 minutes. I also got free samples of Boss Bottled EdP and the Parfum here, but I haven't actually bothered testing them yet. From a quick sniff I'd say they are also safe but boring and the Parfum doesn't fit in line.
So my main issue is performance. If Boss Bottled would actually last, it would be a great daily driver.

Thoughts on Versace Man Eau Fraiche vs Versace Pour Homme?

I'm looking for a new summer freshie and I've heard good things about both of these. I'm looking for something I could wear out and about and in the office. Ideally not excessively expensive and not overlapping too much with anything I've already got.

Frags I currently have:

Lalique White
Bleu de Chanel EdT
CK Euphoria Men
Encre Noire
Encre Noire Extreme
Eucris
Fahrenheit
Paco Rabanne Phantom

Someone here recently asked for a good alternative to Noir Extreme - not sure about the drydown but at least for the first hour Oajan is really similar. It's just missing the earthy saffron on top. I'd say it's somewhere between NE EDP and Parfum. NE EDP is still much better than the other 2.

Might be country-specific, but Drakkar Noir is both the smell of a well-known German showergel (duschdas) and in the US it's the scent of Black Ice little trees. I don't get any musty alcoholic rubber from it.
I also get zero urinal cake from PRPH (current formulation). It's all spicy lavender soap. For comparison, I've got Ted Lapidus Pour Homme right here and that one is urinal cake all the way through. None of that in PRPH. Might be a classic case of how urinal cakes smell depending on the country and the associated fragrance.

Kek, no. Yes, current Drakkar Noir formulation smells like a little spices and dries down amti pissy citruses and alcohol, literally how Club de Nuit Intense smells like, cheap.
Bon Monsieur or Dakar still have the heavy aromatic backbone that recent Drakkar Noir lacks.
And also no, CDNIM is a really bad Acentus clone. Aventus 2011 batch smells really nice, could be an oakmossy oldschool scent modernized with musk and pineapple.
PRPH smells like oakmoss with honey, really nice. Try the recent formulation of Polo Green for the urinal cake experience.

Depends on the store you go to
If you go somewhere like Sephora that has all their fragrances out on display with tester strips in the open, you can test to your heart's content with the strips. You can also spray it on your hand/wrist and I doubt anyone would really care in this particular set up.
If you go to big box department stores where there are brand kiosks and brand reps, you'll just have to ask them you want to test a particular fragrance and the brand rep will spray a tester strip for you.
I've always just taken any and all tester strips with me as I walk around the mall so I can smell what the drydown is like. Keep in mind, fragrances can and probably will smell different on a strip vs your skin.
I've never actually asked for a bottled sample from brand reps before so someone else will have to chime in about that.

The tester bottles are standing there, usually. The salesperson will bother you for a second, but you can tell them you're just browsing. Maybe figure out beforehand if there is something you'd like to test. Make sure to test that first. Sniffing the cap gives an acceptable first impression, then you can spray it on a paper strip, although that is quite useless in my opinion (and personally I can't smell shit in the atmosphere at a store), and then spray on your wrist. If you can find 2-4 spots on you to spray on, you can test that many frags at once. Then you buy your favorite online because the prices in stores are usually ridiculous.

Idk, both last at least an entire work shift on me, the EDP lasts quite a bit longer even. You are either going noseblind or you need to spray it a few more times then let the bottle sit for a few weeks. It's complete broscience but when air gets in the bottle some of the alcohol evaporates off and makes the scent a bit stronger over time. Speaking of these frags, I'm pretty sure I like the EDT Intense a bit more than the EDP. The EDP has a fuckton of patchouli, so much that it makes it smell way more like a typical designer "blue" offering like Dylan Blue. My supervisor at work even told me that I smell like Axe but in a good way when I was wearing it, whereas with the EDT Intense people ask what the hell the fragrance is and that they have never smelled anything like it

i probably forgot a lot of classics, there was someone in the last thread who named some more that are discontinued if you dont mind buy vintages, check the last thread. you probably won't like all of them, compared to modern fragrances they're way more polarizing but it's worth checking them out. a lot of them are pretty cheap too.
also in my humble opinion smelling like your father during these times of homo and metrosexuality isn't a bad thing. in fact, it's more unique to wear a classic these days if you're younger than 40.

>What other fragrances would Anon recommend that are in line with these?

i don't know what you mean by "in line" or why would you like to stay "in line" when exploring your
taste.

anyhow, since you have a bottle of jubi xxv and grand soir you must enjoy ambers; grand soir sets you on the goal for sweet ambers so you do not need a new one. for the sake of exploring i would try a myrrh-based amber, the following three are staples on the market
>ambra aurea by profumum
>ambre preciux by mpeg
>vento nel vento by bois 1920

also i would try nicolai de parfum's line in case you have not sampled them yet. they have a variety of fragrances, some clearly more traditional or old-school. NYI is a classic, amber oud is nice but suitable for autumn/winter desu.

as a last suggestion, i would suggest trying the houses of tauer and hiram green. tauer offers some classics everyone should try (e.g., acdd, phi) and hiram green's all natural fragrances have a unique, pure touch to them that is extremely hard to find in other artisan houses. try arcadia and arbole, arbole at least.

lastly, as another anon said: go through classics (such as those by nicolai), this will give you some insight into different genres

So basically you got the YouTube classics down. Stop buying those, is my first suggestion. The only one of your frags that should ever make it to a second bottle is Sauvage, maybe Pi and L'Homme Ideal EdP. And with Sauvage, you already got the suggestion I would have given.
What you want to do is go to a mall with a good selection and grab everything from Dior, Chanel, Guerlain, Caron, Hermes, Cartier you can find and put your nose on it. Chanel Platinum Egoiste can probably cover a wide range of ages (but then again so does Bleu). The latest Dior Homme could be to your liking. Guerlain has good offerings which cover a wide range, like Heritage or L'Instant Homme, but they might not be to your "spring" liking. Caron is great but their stuff is impossible to find at stores and maybe a bit old-fashioned. Good milf pull, probably. Hermes has Terre d'Hermes, which doesn't have any pull and really isn't well received by women, but you could try Voyage d'Hermes Parfum, which is really nice and perfect for spring. Cartier's offering are basically all very fresh and spring-suitable.

>>17435530

Good frags to use as a room spray?

I once imagined an Indian person wearing sauvage so I never touch it. Just a warning.

Go to Walmart, Target and try all the Cremo fragrances. I was gifted 2 of them for Christmas and have been using them as air fresheners.
They stay in the air and cling to fabric better than skin.

What the heck is a conifer?

Lads, it's time. I enjoy my yatagan, my kouros, my Cdg but its time for something simple. I need a no brainer that will get compliments in the office. I'm going for an Aventus dupe/inspo because
1)i don't mind the smell
2)its a proven mass appeal
3)suitable in most scenarios
3)unlike sauvage and Versace Eros, I don't smell guys at work wearing it

All of this is fine. How do I now stop sweating so my new fragrance doesn't smell like shit after just 4-5 minutes?

>> No.17436625

Just eat whole foods so your sweat doesn't smell bad.

Can you give me a list of what whole foods are please?

>> No.17436638

>>17436637
They're just real foods (unprocessed or minimally processed): milk, beef, eggs, carrots, fish, cheese, plain yoghurt, etc. If it comes in a package and has numerous ingredients it probably isn't a whole food.
