It depends on the country/state, but yes, an average European dresses slightly better than an average American (who often look like giant toddlers, see >>17426606), but only slightly better, to be fair, unless you go to the center of some big European capitals.

Reality.
You can look at any photo of random crowds in western Europe and they look much more put-together than a random crowd of Americans. They mostly wear NPC clothes like black puffers but they at least dress with dignity and arent obese.
And if you look at a crowd of random Japanese, and ignore the old salarymen in suits, they're even skinnier and more stylish.
And im not a weeb, thats just the truth.

theres a whole history to this that someone could probably write a research paper on, but americans dress worse than they used to. there used to be programs on us tv dedicated to fashion. elsa klensch was hosting style reports and interviews on cnn. kate moss was signing autographs in local macys. a shift happened though and now we're here

You can't buy quality clothing anymore in any retail store. It used to be that luxury clothing had a place in every outlet that almost everybody would save up to buy a piece or two from.
I wasn't even alive when the last clothing outlet got rid of their fine clothing departments. It was early 80's IIRC.
