Fur clothing has long been a controversial topic, with many arguing that synthetic fabrics are a more environmentally friendly option. However, there are several reasons why fur may actually be a more sustainable choice for clothing.

First, it is important to consider the environmental impact of the production of synthetic fabrics. Many synthetic fabrics, such as polyester, are made from petroleum, which is a non-renewable resource and the production of which has significant environmental consequences. In contrast, fur is a natural material that is produced by animals that are raised on fur farms. These farms are generally smaller and more sustainable than the factories that produce synthetic fabrics, and they often have less of an impact on the environment.

Second, the durability of fur is significantly higher than that of synthetic fabrics. Fur is a long-lasting material that can be passed down for generations, whereas synthetic fabrics often wear out and need to be replaced after just a few years. This means that the environmental impact of synthetic fabrics is often greater over their lifetime, as they need to be produced and disposed of multiple times.

Finally, it is important to consider the environmental impact of disposal. Synthetic fabrics do not biodegrade and can take hundreds of years to break down in a landfill. In contrast, fur can be composted and will break down naturally over time.

Overall, while synthetic fabrics may seem like the more environmentally friendly choice, there are several reasons why fur can actually be a more sustainable option. From the more sustainable production process to the durability and biodegradability of the material, fur can be a more eco-friendly choice for clothing.

I dont give a fuck about the "sustainability". You're correct that synthetics will also produce emissions and waste, and that plastic is non-renewable. What i do care about is wild animals being kept in unhygienic cages with no room to move from birth to slaughter.
You would think at this point in the west that animals would have more rights than that, but they dont. Not even intelligent, social creatures like foxes. I'd only buy fur if it was certified like free range eggs.

I hope one day we will be able to grow fur in labs skipping the murder part.

The cages are not unhygienic because there is a mesh base, and fur animals live in a world of smells. And they also have space. You dont know anything about fur farming.

Yep. Fur is a great material, but given the current state of fur farming there is very little you can buy without selling your soul to the fucking devil.
Lamb/sheep work. Those are raised on farms which are already certified because of meat/wool.
Only other option is buying used or inheriting it.

Most people just wear fur ruffs anyway, which are a minuscule amount of material.

Pure nonsense. Plastic can be made from bioethanol if necessary. And raising animals is ressource intensive to the extreme. And fuck off with that "smaller farm" point. One big plant for plastic is much better than tons of individually small farms.

True.
You can also hunt for fur (coyote is popular) which is probably the altogether best option.
>>17397152
Funny how those people hate on hunted fur as well. Really, the focus on fur is mostly due to class envy. Fur is expensive and worn by few, mostly rich people, so they find it a morally expedient target with good potential for popular support.

I did admit it was biodegradable you dumb nigger. Not that it matters much if you properly dispose of the synthetic fur in the end. And synthetic fur is still less ressouce intensive to produce than fur farming.
Also I bet my ass that you it takes you less than a week to produce a fur ruffs weight in plastic waste. Always funny how retards seethe at a tiny amount of plastic in clothing while doing nothing whatsoever about the myriad other ways they produce plastic waste,
