Got a decant and it's not what I expected, to say the least. Thought it'd be more leathery, whereas it's something around labdanum/guaiac wood and leather is barely there. It doesnt have a hard spine like a prominent wood, I find it rather thin and watered down and very vintage but in a not so positive way. All absolutely liked by women, if not loved. The Le Male line and Toy Boy are probably the most easily liked, as in "smells sexy from a paper strip", while DHI is the highest rated and most awarded designer frag across multiple review websites and a bit more unique, but requires to be smelled off of a person.

Also any good blind review videos of DHI? I can only find "DHI vs. <insert blue freshie or vanilla amber bomb>" and I'm not interested in those. I know how these go, that's why every designer house shits out blue freshies and vanilla amber bombs. The Baldassare noselet squad also doesn't have a video with DHI in it.

>> No.17380155

>>17380144
Well, that's the thing, the only person whose comments actually matter to me likes DHI a lot. Shockingly, that person is also biologically female (and not blood-related to me). The opinions from that person about certain fragrances would offend a lot of people in this thread, though. DHI also loses a lot of the iris on me, especially in the drydown, and turns into a nice creamy powdery wood frag. If there was something similar without the iris, I'd test it, but there isn't. Now somehow that fragrance is still the highest rated designer frag on parfumo and the consecutive winner of the reader's designer frag award on fragrantica. Am I supposed to believe t's either just women wearing DHI writing those reviews or gay men?

Anyway, when it comes to compliments in general, it almost didn't matter what I wore. Literally "just don't stink" (and don't smell old man-ish, maybe keep those frags for the office). Basically anything modern works, unless you buy Christian Clive specifically for that old man vibe.

no amount of sauvage is gonna help you get laid if you're this insecure. work on your personality or body or something idk, anything but obsessing over which inoffensive designer frag is the most inoffensive, it literally doesn't matter. there's that one article on fragrantica where some female editor says when she was dating a guy who wore AdG that's what she found sexy, when she met a guy who wore heavy orientals they became sexy to her too by association... that's exactly how it works. but go ahead, worry about autistically min maxing frags based on clickbait content while Chad gets laid wearing axe body spray or no frag at all

Personally, I just wear what I like. I find OL has a very raw leather smell to it, which reminds me of my leather working hobby I rarely have time for these days. I don't identify it as a refined scent so I wear it in my day-to-day when I want something punchy and not for meetings/interviews. I like something gentle with fresh and blue or a not-overpowering sandalwood for those.

least brainwashed american. You and your christian morality, "doing the right thing" you are literally taking away a droplet from a multimillionaire ocean. You think they care? You think they'll notice? that someone will receive 100 $ less in their pay check? That the company will go bankrupt?
No one said this is fighting corps, this is exploiting them for your own benefit, you see politics where there is little if any politics involved.
Not that politics would corroborate your views anyway, simping for corps is peak liberal cringe.

Alright, a select few which might interest some people.
Rated low (but liked by me so I own/want to buy full bottles anyway):
Basically any chypre I have, including NYI (if you want to call it a chypre) and Chypre Palatin
Anything Lalique I have (EN, EN AL, Equus, Lion)
Eau Sauvage Parfum
Tuscany per Uomo
Le 3e Homme de Caron

Rated meh regardless of my rating:
At the Barber's (but not Platinum Egoiste)
BI
LADDM
Paco Rabanne Pour Homme
Azzaro Pour Homme
Gucci Intense Oud
Anything Joop! I had a free sample of so far
The Scent + flankers
L'Homme Ideal Extreme (but not L'Homme Ideal EdP, which is good)

Rated good against my expectations:
Cool Water
Drakkar Noir
Active Bodies
Zino (and Beau de Jour)
Cerruti 1881
Heritage EdP
Platinum Egoiste
Pitralon aftershave

Acqua di Gio and its flankers can be weak, especially modern batches. It may not just be because your sense of smell has been weakened. They're best suited for warmer weather.
The Stetson by Coty and its flankers are good for being cheaper frags, although Stetson original leans mature and surprisingly feminine despite their reputation as a masculine brand. Stetson Black is the best flanker of the line. They work best in cool weather.
Jimmy Choo Man is a blue frag on the sweet side, best suited for spring and summer.
The Acqua di Gio is the higher quality designer of your collection, but not necessarily the best performer. What you have is a good place to start if you want to get deeper into fragrances.

If you're in the market for any new designer fragrances Macy's is having a good sale right now. Base sale is 15% off, more if you have a Macy's card. Doesn't quite reach grey market discounts but you can get a large discount on brands like Chanel which is very rare.

H24 EDP is one of the most unique things I've smelled lately, it's Penhaligons Sartorial with a huge dose of unripe banana. Somehow it works.
Dior Homme Sport is an airy frankincense fragrance and I question who the fuck decide to call it "sport"
Dior Homme 2020 is decent. It's not as good as the original, nor as innovative. But anyone claiming it's bad is being needlessly contrarian.

I assure you they will engage in no such behavior. Your own tastes betray you. You've sampled 47 fragrances that other people told you to wear. Let's be honest, you didn't do exhaustive research here and piece together what to try, you're probably on Fragrantica posting threads begging for ideas like a baby bird begs for food to be puked into its mouth.

Rate my sample buys from a Perfumed Court order I just made for "dark, mysterious, boozey, tobacco, and/or oud" fall/winter smells (all 3ml sprays):

>Herod
>Red Tobacco
>Jubilation XXV
>Incense Oud
>Bently for Men Intense
>Tobacco Oud
>Straight to Heaven

I am new to fragrances, and also have, in my current fall/winter rotation:
>Man in Black
>Oud Wood
>Jazz Club, Coffee Break, By the Fireplace
>Grand Soir

For wearer profile, I am 6'4" slim /fit/ otterbox, Swede and German in blood, long honey blonde hair, decent face. I wear a lot of neutral color sweaters (blues, earthy colors, grays, etc.), cardigans, neutral oxfords or tees, chinos, slim dark wash jeans. I like a kind of classic semi formal style that can go for more academia or modern, depending on what I'm dressing for. Most of my wardrobe is tailored, though I like some oversized sweaters/cardigans, long t-shirts, etc., with skinny pants, occasionally, also.

red tobacco is like 70% of herod, somehow they have the exact same hyper-synthetic and giga loud tobacco note.
Incense oud is probably like the shittiest killian fragrance, do not judge the house by it, sample all of their other shit, they have probably the best boozy fragrances.

It's not as "good" as everybody says, it is just a good Layton clone, and even there it used to be better before it got reformulated. Old formulation Detour Noir was identical to Layton, including the opening. Current formulation of Detour Noir has a lot less spices and more apple in the opening, giving Boss Bottled vibes. Drydown is still strongly similar to the old formulation, though. Performance is insane for the price, though, even with the reformulation, unless they also diluted that further.
When it comes to being "good", it depends on whether or not you'd like Layton. Loud spicy vanilla fragrance, very much fitting the current taste of the masses when it comes to fragrances. Only fragrance that ever made someone ask me if I'm wearing a perfume for women, which I can understand, since it does smell very unisex. Overall, I'd say it might still be worth 30€, but that's already on the fence, because I paid 14€ for it when it smelled the same as Layton. Layton lovers will defend Layton to their death and pretend that the drydown of this is "only 85% there when compared to my pre-reformulation April 2016 batch", when you literally can't tell them apart, but it's just cope that they paid 200 bucks for something someone cloned in the desert for 14 bucks.

If you enjoy Layton and don't fall for batch and marketing faggotry, this will make you smell identical to someone wearing Layton. The drydown is still identical. The opening might be different, I haven't tested Layton after the reformulation.

Creed Aventus is a masculine perfume that is known for its fruity and woody scent. It is a popular choice among men who want to make a statement with their fragrance.

However, I must digress and discuss the looming threat of the new world order. This shadowy organization is rumored to be working behind the scenes to control the governments and economies of the world. Some believe they are using advanced technology and mind control to manipulate the masses.

As a society, we must be vigilant and resist their efforts to enslave us. We must come together and fight for our freedom and autonomy. Only then can we truly be free from the clutches of the new world order.

Despite its luxurious aroma, Creed Aventus may not be the best choice for those who are concerned about the power of the new world order. Instead, we must focus our attention on the bigger picture and work to protect ourselves from their insidious plans. Let us not be fooled by the seductive scent of Creed Aventus, or any other distraction, and stay focused on the real enemy.

Perfume is pointless because it serves no practical purpose. It's just a way for people to mask their natural body odor and try to present themselves as something they're not. The idea that we should wear perfume to make ourselves more attractive to others is a societal construct that has been perpetuated by the beauty and fashion industries. In reality, our natural body odor is a reflection of who we are and how our bodies function. It's a sign of health and vitality, and it's something that we should embrace, not try to cover up with synthetic fragrances.

Furthermore, perfume can be harmful to our health and the environment. Many perfumes contain toxic chemicals that can cause allergic reactions and respiratory problems. These chemicals can also pollute the air and water, harming wildlife and contributing to environmental degradation. By wearing perfume, we are not only harming ourselves, but we are also harming the planet.

In conclusion, perfume is pointless because it serves no practical purpose and can be harmful to both our health and the environment. Instead of trying to mask our natural body odor with synthetic fragrances, we should embrace it and celebrate our unique, natural scents.

It's a review from something different, Bois Imperial doesn't have any of those notes except for some of the ambiguous "amber". BI is a very unisex scent and loved by women and men alike. You can see the gender of owners on parfumo.net and around 13% of the owners are women. Compare that to "unisex" fragrances such as Dior Homme Intense with only 4% and you can see your heterosexuality fade when spraying BI. I also can't smell iso-e super in BI. Quentin Bisch is overusing a woody-smelling molecule somehow stripped out of patchouli in BI to create that smell, mixed with the usual ambroxan of modern fragrances.

>still yet to get a compliment on it

What the fuck is wrong with you stupid, spineless zoomer faggots and your obsession with compliments?
Let's ignore the fact that you personally are too ugly both in body and spirit to get compliments for anything. We're going to do something wild and difficult, it's called thinking about other people besides ourselves. I know, I know, it is crazy and you've never done it, but bear with me.

1: How many times have you seen your friends received compliments on their fragrance or clothing? Or more realistically how many times have you seen people in public places receive compliments from stranger?
2: How many times have *you* complimented someone on their fragrance? What's that? You expect other people to engage in behavior you don't, and you base purchases on this delusion? Wow, very cool.

Tldr You're a fucking faggot, buy shit you like, shut the fuck up about compliments. If a a woman you don't know and aren't about to fuck compliments you on anything fashion related, she views you as a faggot at worst and harmlessly not sexual at best. This isn't true for women once you actually date them but you have no experience with that so that's a topic for another day.

IMHO Tobacco Oud is the king of the genre because it's got just enough filth to give it an edge and not feel like I'm trying to laro as pirate. Vanille Havanne isn't quite the same but it's got enough funk for me to appreciate it all the same. Have you tried Nasomatto Duro?

still first day impression so it might change later on.
opens up pretty modern with pepper and not very sweet grapefruit, more on the bitter side. the saffron comes out pretty strongly. after a few hours it smells dark sweet (probs the tonka). can make out something flowery somewhere. not sure why so many reviews talk about animalistic or urine notes, i get 0 of these, absolutely nothing. honestly wish it had some. i guess the name is fitting, it smells dark somehow, not bright like sauvage (if you thought they had parallels because both have pepper and grapefruit).
do i like it? not sure yet, it's unique at least. none of the comparisons i've read about were accurate. it honestly reminded me of davidoff zino a bit, that dark sweetness.
as of now i think the normal lapidus pour homme feels more special, as does lapidus oud noir. maybe my thoughts will change when i wear it again tomorrow.
>>17384334
i would've said that oud for glory is very nice but recent batches seem to be fucked. heard people complaining about the same issues with afnan, they probably produce their shit at the same factory.

just buy decants of niche stuff. unless you want to buy stuff like pdm, then just save your money.

A good mix. Only missing a good chypre and fougere.

I'd personally consider L'HOMME INFINIMENT a chypre so he'd be set there, but yeah he is missing a fresh "dumb reach" fougere. Could go the classic route and get Azzaro pH, Paco Rabanne pH, Drakkar Noir, Rive Gauche pH if he can find it, even cool water, or a newer offering like Beau de Jour

yeah anon, you are missing a fougere, Al Rehab Dakar is 6 bucks, get it and then you can retire from this hobby.

Chypres are based around a bergamot/hesperidic top notes, resinous mid and oakmossy base, and they smell like your stereotypical mid century "classical" perfume. Examples are stuff like Aromatics Elixir, Chanel PM, most Guerlain shit, Grey Flannel

Fougeres are based on lavender, coumarin, and oakmoss and impart the smell of stuff like shaving foam, talcum powder, sport shower gel, etc. Examples are Skin Bracer, Paco Rabanne pH, Rive Gauche, and later in the 80s they started added a molecule called dihydromyrcenol which is responsible for the stereotypical shower gel scent found in stuff like Green Irish Tweed, Cool Water, and later stuff like Fierce and Sauvage

how can you list fougeres but not name nyi?

>> No.17384449

Because NYI is expensive, could be hard to find and sample, and is more of a chypre/fougere hybrid and not a pure fougere. Actually to my nose it's way more of a chypre

And you can order a sample right from Luckyscent too. But I agree, it's not what I think of when I think fougeres.

https://www.fragrantica.com/perfume/Hermes/Eau-de-Narcisse-Bleu-18184.html

H24 has been bugging the shit out of me, I know I've smelt something similar before from Hermes and there it is. The Narcissus note was first used here (by Hermes, not first in fragrance )years ago.

The longer H24 EDP dries down the further it pulls from the EDT. The first six hours were similar to the EDT, close in fact. Now it feels like there's some similarities to 80s floral frags like Anucci Man. I'm digging it, it's rare to have a designer frag to through so many changes as it dries down.
Eight hours in and it's still easily detectable, I am confident I'll get 12 to 14 hours minimum

H24 is interesting (what BI should’ve been) but the parfum is a disaster.

Top five designer for the year for me, top ten overall.

Speaking of disasters, want to see a kick ass sale going on at Maxaroma?

I know I do! Let's take a look. Price range here has a max price of $165. That means a sale price should be less than 165 right? Let's click the link and find out!

>Price on main page was 165

Well this is weird, here is says the price is $225, and that the savings is $86 dollars which would be roughly 30%

But in reality you're saving $26, not 86 because the real price is 165.

Please pay attention to shit like this. Almost every company does this when sales exceed 20%, they'll jack the price up to make it seem like a the sale is good.

They normally aren't this fucking stupid though, they are supposed to cover their tracks better.
