This may sound ridiculous but desperate times call for desperate measures. I've been trying to get a new Batgirl (126710BLNR) from a local AD and have no purchase history. know this can take months but most likely years in my case. I really don't want to wait that long and don't want to buy watchesI don't want/need to get higher up on some list.

I've been researching some of the reps (guys) on IG and see that frequent a popular gay club around town. I'm happily married but hear me out. Should try to frequent this club, run into them, and really build a close relationship with them? don't mind doing this and think it could potentially work. I'm assuming they'd be more likely to help someone they're close with. If this could save me years then it could be worth it.

Has anyone else done this? Should do it? My wife doesn't care. I don't mind and might enjoy it and may end up making a good friend in the process. TL;DR; Multiple reps at a local AD frequent a gay club and l'm wondering if should start going to hopefully run into them, build a bond, and get their help to get my grail.

Brilliant watch.
Wears larger than it is.
As with all Casios, I hate the straps.
The CA-53 takes 20mm straps, though the clearance for the straps is minimal.
If you get a replacement strap, try to find one that's 1mm if possible.
I think a 1.2mm might work, though you'd likely have to compress the strap a bit.
Might bend the pins.
Watch Gecko has several strap options that are 1mm.
And they do fit the clearances of all Casios (get the correct lug size, though).
I love my CA-53.

I can't speak for everyone but for me they're almost always fugly, tacky, huge, look like they were designed by a 14 year old boy, and the "british" brand tie-ins like bentley give me the ick

also every single one of their ads is clearly aimed at someone I don't want to be anywhere near, either john travolta or some generic sleazebag lower middle class aspiring old money type, I know I should care about the watch not the ads, but I'm just giving you more reasons why the brand rubs me the wrong way on multiple levels

Newfag just getting into watches here, I've compiled this list of models that look interesting, mostly between $200-$500 (Seiko, Hamilton, Orient, Timex, etc.) but now I'm thinking I should just get one $1k-$2k (Longines, Stowa) watch and call it a day. Is it better to have a rotation of cheaper watches or one holy grail (relative to my purchasing power) watch?

Help me out fellas, I need a sports watch. One that can function as a stopwatch and also sound an alarm after a set countdown, but one that just sounds briefly, like a beep or two then done without having to manually disable the alarm.
Ideally one that could be set to sound briefly and repeatedly every minute, or every two minutes etc without having to reset the timer every time. Heartrate monitor would be nice. I don't want any smart shit that has to connect to apps or devices or the internet.

I know fuck all about watches but I imagine that these features must exist, I just don't know where to look. The few I've looked at just say stopwatch with no mention of countdown alarms, alarm sound duration or repeated alarms.

I don't really care about looks, I'm more interested in function but it would be nice for it to not look retarded, I'll get a dress watch later for looks but this one is just for fitness. Budget doesn't matter, I'm prepared to pay for quality and want something that will last but not looking for some meme high price status symbol.

Any suggestions? Or somewhere to look at least. Thanks in advance

>> No.17357431

kek. The term is smartwatch. unless you are looking for a being able to tell the time and maybe an alarm once a day or a stopwatch, you are looking for a smartwatch.

I have a Timex Ironman that has interval timers with short alarms that don't need to be disabled, very useful when I used to do sprint and tempo training where I'd have it alternate beeping every minute and every 30 seconds. No heart rate though.

>> No.17357452

I guess what I meant is that most watches posted here are mechanical watches, you'll probably find a lot of Casio with auto repeating alarms, but I don't think you'll find a lot of different watches with both that and a heart rate monitor. And if you also want it to then look like a steel sports watch you'll find mostly smartwatches.

>> No.17357453

yeah ironman
My basic 30 lap has a countdown timer with the option to repeat at the end. So if you wanted to set a 2 minute it'd just beep every 2 minutes.

There are more advanced ones that let you do intervals

The seconds hand is very useful in sportwatches, beside allowing you to measure time lapses, it tells you if the watch is working or not.

>> No.17359205

Would it be possible to make a tourbillon act as a fan?

>> No.17359209

What's the max rpm you can make a tourbillon?

>> No.17359212

I need a new watch, I lost my previous cheap Fossil and my gf needs Christmas ideas for me. I want something simple and classic looking, for $100-$200, preferably something from a lesser-known brand (I've already looked at Citizens) that I might not have heard of. Not for like, hipster reasons, but more because I don't really know watches and want to expand my options.

>> No.17359214

What is the worlds fastest tourbillon? Could /wt/ find some stupid horology related record and design a watch to beat it?

My name is not Jeremy Clarkson just in case you're wondering.

no one who wears sports watches is measuring time lapses lmao

unnecessary for haute horologie. you CAN afford a holy trinity sports watch right?

>> No.17359228

>What is the worlds fastest tourbillon?
We should start requesting watch brands list a power figure for all their watches. How powerful is an average mechanical watch anyway?

>> No.17359232

I want to know the power, torque and 0-60 time.

>> No.17359245

Yes. Chesterton® has made a prototype. The watch sucks the air in at the back first through the HeatSink™ warming it up and then blows it out the front through the special Two-Speed-Tourbillon™ protected by Tourb-o-Flap™ which opens up when you engage the Tourb-o-Fan™ feature.

>> No.17359248

>no one who wears sports watches is measuring time lapses lmao
Some of us do.

>unnecessary for haute horologie. you CAN afford a holy trinity sports watch right?
Yes, I can.

>> No.17359262

>Some of us do.
nah be real for a second, it’s a luxury wrist handbag. half of the people who have one don’t even dare to take it out of the safe, probably only a third of all owners actually wears it like a real watch and none of them do anything that requires second-accuracy.

>> No.17359267

You're not fooling anyone Jezza.

Btw, to my knowledge, the fastest tourbillon out there is the 24 seconds Tourbillon from Greubel Forsey. As its name indicates, it makes a full revolution every 24 seconds. It totals 3,600 revolutions per day, which is a lot given that most tourbillons go at 1,440 revs per day. Here is an example:

>> No.17359278

The watch design reminds me a bit of the Fiat Multipla, things sprouting out like it has a disease (Cowell's words not mine).

>> No.17359279

not even I as a normie require second accuracy. Only seeing how long I can hold my breath or so requires the seconds

>> No.17359287

So if we made a 10s or even a 1s tourbillon we would legitimately break the world record in the fastest spinning tourbillon?

>> No.17359302

Yes, but most likely you would end up stressing the whole thing and fucking it. Remember that inside the tourbillon's cage there is still a spring that must oscillate and a constat from 21,800 to 36,000 vph and needs to withstand the centrifugal force of your hyper speed tourbillon.

>> No.17359306

I meant 21,600 vph
Sorry for that

>Plastic and glass shards flying everywhere
>I'm now poor and blind

>> No.17359317

If Zenith can do a 360000vph balance work i'm sure you can make a 60rpm tourbillon.

>> No.17359318

yeah, there’s a reason why even modern nautiluses and overseas don’t have hacking seconds, because no one who owns those watches needs it

That watch is used to compute latitude/longitude in navigation. The 15 represents the 15 degrees in 1 hour of the earths rotation. Not hours in a day. Link is to an explanation of this wonderfully weird piece of history.
Also, the giant size has a purpose. Ease of legibility in a rickity old 1920 airplane that's vibrating and bouncing around, as well as being able to use it with gloved hands.

Aliexpress is salling fake or knockoff €15 Osama Casios for €10. My head hurts and my heart aches for the amount of industrial prowess being wasted to create an even cheaper copy of a cheap product.
