17340604 No.17340604 [Reply] [Original]

What are some subtle mens scents that dont smell like overpowering cologne or perfume?

I work in a hospital as a >male nurse (LPN not a CNA)
There is a no fragrance policy here, but the women slather themselves with coco butter(>N) and other over the top bimbo juice type stuff so I figure I may as well join them, but I prefer something thats more of a skin scent but long lasting

>Molecule 01
Literally just a slightly woody, light, slightly salty skin scent. Usually layered with other fragrances but good on its own.

>Hermes H24
Very transparent, slightly metallic, aromatic fragrance. To me, it smells like fresh ironed clothes with a slight scent of banana.

>Creed Silver Mountain Water
Fresh tea scent, very metallic. Unisex. Reminds me of fresh but very expensive soap. Cam be slightly musky.

>Montblanc individuel
Literally smells like detergent, slightly masculine, slightly sweet. Very subtle and crowd pleasing.

ITT: people missing the point.

The obvious answers are:
Cool Water - the smell of shower gel, laundry detergent, shaving cream, etc. Very much a skin scent.
Drakkar Noir - green shower gel, you will smell like fresh out of the shower. Also a skin scent.
Tom Ford Beau de Jour - straight shaving cream, but in modern. The smell of a well groomed man. Lasts and projects, though, might be a bit too much. Also a bit more expensive.
Platinum Egoiste - Like above, but in a more timeless take. Metallic-cold and fresh, very subtle, understated.
Dunhill Icon - like moist towlettes for refreshing yourself. But the expensive ones, not the cheap ones.

None of these will make you smell like perfume, while still making you smell of something.

I have smelled the "cool water intense" before and DESPISED it, smelled like an old man covering up his sardine breath with oversprayed cologne before hitting on his secretary or something
Is the regular version a bit more easy on the nose?

Cool Water Intense has nothing to do with Cool Water. I don't know why they gave it the same name. CW Intense is sweet and synthetic, CW is the most recognizable scent on the market.

>more for a guy in his 40s
The reason here being that these are old fragrances and their dna has been copied into a lot of hygiene products, which is the trick to going undetected when it comes to fragrances. Smelling like showergel, shaving soap or laundry just can't offend anyone. New fragrances are very obvious-smelling due to the synthetic molecule overload.

yeah I'm just gonna go ahead and ignore him at this point lol. Anyway I really wanna try cerruti 1881. People here compare it to Eau Sauvage and it's pretty cheap too. ES is really one of my favorite scents but it's got terrible performance and the parfum version had decent performance but made me feel sick. For me the parfum didn't have the elements of the normal one that I liked.

But the smell of eau sauvage and cigarette smoke on my clothing after a night out is in my top tier of scents honestly. too bad the weather's cooling down though.

>> No.17344425

>>17344419
yeah the parfum smells completely different to me, much sweeter and more resinous, not a refreshing summer frag like the original, reminds me of lemon candy
Cerruti 1881 is definitely closer in feel to the original. a bit more green and with added rose. performance is a bit better on my skin, but also not a huge performer. you might also want to try Boucheron Pour Homme, which performs the best of the three, at the cost of being a bit heavier and less summery (but still closer to the EDT than eau sauvage parfum IMO)

Yes. Resinous, not light at all. I've tried Jaipur Homme by Boucheron and was severely disappointed but I may try to get my hands of a sample of the regular Pour Homme--thanks.

one harder to get alternative to Eau Sauvage is Kaszebsczi Mech by Perfumecraft - niche indie frag you have to order via email from a guy in Poland. it's got great performance though, because it has added oakmoss and deer musk (also makes it a bit heavier, bit of a trade off). the current batch sold out though

okay, I was going off of what "smelled good" out of a sampler he had, everything that was a "yes" was labelled in the /fa/ map as "oud" so I figured it was a "class" of perfumes, sort of like "fresh" or "woody", incorrectly. Thank you for clearing that up.
