The difference is these JDM HAQ watches are legit well made and interesting technologically. You won't find it in a swiss/german $2000 watch. Maybe well made, but not both.
But if you don't like the style, that will be the saddest cope. Luckily for me, I like it.

why, oh why, couldn't brands release their watches in thick aspic shaped acryllic crystals instead of hardened mineral crystal if they aren't going to use sapphire... (because I can just polish the microscratches out)

and a flat sapphire that is paired with an anodized bezel does nothing to protect it, so you're better off getting a watch with a ceramic bezel or no bezel at all.

but if you do get sapphire-ceramic, best not to get one with a date because you could easily jam that if you bump your watch too hard.

acryllic-anodized was peak watch

I think the big attraction for the Citizen Excalibur was the minute and seconds touching the chapter ring so I am not guessing the time.

My Hager was designed in that "fashion first" priority with the chapter ring all the way up on the rehaut, which looks cool but serves no purpose.

but I think Citizen has Casio beat in this department: I was able to register the watch to extend the manufacture warranty till September 2028.

>>17274402
I like it so far, it's quieter than a whisper; can't hear any ticking even with my ear up to the case, very light and thin.

downsides are:
-hardened mineral crystal set lower than anodized bezel insert, so no chance of polishing out any small scratches in the future.
-the crown threads (case side) was gritty to operate, some waxed dental floss fixed that right up.

Im wondering if I should go exchange it for the 36mm Timex with the sapphire crystal and no date. I would be losing out on having a handy count-up timer and the 6 year warranty tho.

Tell you what, (mentally speaking) having a +/-15 sec/mo solar watch feels like a massive upgrade from mechanicals being "accurate if you squint and guess the time".

>>17274438
yep, I'm the GMT-fan anon. The Hager has scratches over the case and metal part of the bezel, but the lumed ceramic bezel and crystal don't have a mark on them. Not going to get rid of those two, as they have more sentimental value than resale. Good thing they have common ETA movements so they will be able to be brought back to new when I can justify the costs.

Might even try to patch the case on my Mudman and change the battery, but I think this Citizen might surpass it in accuracy (and the only frequently used function on my Gshock was the count up timer, so that's why I settled on a dive watch).

vostok neptune has those paddle hands. If you can get your hands on them, they are always in a constant state of sold out or selling out.

though if you are working with machinery and doing anything that a mechanical watch won't like I do suggest a quartz watch like the duro or casioak
