17198685 No.17198685 [Reply] [Original]

Guest from /fit/ here, I'm in my early 20s and have a body like pic rel.
I dress like a basic bastard, mostly basic shirts, chinos, paired with white sneakers.
It looks clean and all but I want to have more of an edge to my looks and stand out a bit, but I don't know how to pull it off while still showing my hard earned muscles.
The problem is, I don't want to look like an e-boy or an edgy teenager, and I don't want to look like a sexcore menswear guy either, because I'm too young for that.
I was looking for some inspiration and tips on different sites but I swear, all fashion inspos I find are mostly filled with skinny guys wearing oversized stuff with a lot of layering which is totally not what I want, and styles like athleisure are basically what most young guys dress like.
Could you give me some advice? I was thinking about getting some jewelry like necklaces, rings and stuff, maybe wearing some more military looking clothing or something.

>more of an edge
What is this supposed to mean? Do you just want to stand out? Belong to a subculture, look more sophisticated, look more mature?

I want to stand out from the crowd and have some certain elements in my style that are not too common, while not looking like an edgy e-boy or dressing too maturely for my age, which is 22.

Wear a tight undershirt with something loose or unbuttoned over it so you can still see your chest. Arm size & shoulder width should be plenty without having to show off your biceps specifically so don't worry about sleeves.

just develop a personal style? get some interests and passions? why are you asking random people who dont know you to spoonfeed you style are you retarded the only way your ever going to look interesting and "stand out" is figuring it out yourself

>get some interests and passions?
What the fuck does the way that I want to dress have to do with my hobbies and interests?
I'm a programmer, am I supposed to wear an old t-shirt with the linux tux on it and carry an old thinkpad under my arm?
>just develop a personal style?
I bet that 90% of this board doesn't have a personal style and they just know how to pull off a certain look they saw thousands of times on instagram and it has nothing to do with personality or originality (I don't think there is anything wrong with it though).
Developing a personal style that looks good and wearing it with confidence is not a thing that you can "just" do.

what i mean is develop interests and passions that both expose you to new ideas and style AND give you confidence, to develop personal styleand pull it off you need to be interesting and confident in yourself.
Obviously you cant just wake up confident and interesting that stupid thats why you invest into yourself first or you'll be an eternal wannabe

Don't listen to this retard. Your question is really about clothing choices and not "fashion", which is normal if you are a straight white male.
Dress with a purpose. That means you should find the archetypical picture of what you want people to think you are, and then steal or ape their style to the extent that your physique is similar to them and your bank balance accommodates it.
If you want to appeal to women, steal from pictures of men in women's rag media. If you want to appeal to employers, steal from pictures of rich people. This isn't complicated.

just browse higher end clothing store websites and copy what you think looks good on there. Higher end clothes stores usually have better and more tasteful styling with their clothes. You don't necessarily have to buy those exact items, but find cheaper alternatives (same material, colour, cut etc). This will help a lot if you don't know your style.
Try endclothing, norse store, mr porter, maybe allsaints. Some of it may look a bit too menswear or streetwear but just choose what you like.
Also what this anon says is true >>17199008 insofar as dressing practically and with a purpose. Think when you can wear those clothes (on a night out, on a sunny day, on a cold day etc)

You can probably see the contradiction here. Anyway, the first thing you can do is lose any graphics and logos on your clothing. Get some pants that are straight/relaxed fit and are not jeans, make sure they fit at the waist and are not baggy. Learn some color theory. What is your skin tone and hair color?

already found out about that and threw away most of them, got like 10 basic t-shirts yesterday. mostly white/black and earth colours
>Get some pants
I already have a couple which fit me good enough also it's fucking hard to find nice pants if your thigh circumference is 32 inches

Same age. I like to dress a a bit formal but then add some elements to make it more youthfull. For instance, when wearing a white dress shirt, roll up the sleeves for a more active look. Add an armband above your watch to accesorize, I like doing 2 things on one arm and none on the other because balancing feels weird to me. Wearing jeans instead of more formal styles of pants is also an option.
Tucking your pants in will automaticly give you a more serious/formal look compared to the people around you while not making you look superold.
I just like to experiment with existing styles to make them my own and have gotten good reactions to this.1

Congratulations, you alredy fucked up. Cant truly blame you because i had the same fucked up ideas when i was your age.

Remember:
>no need to try to look older because you will have a lot of time to be mature and old
Nigga, you can dress like a peaky blinder charather when you hit 35. Enjoy still having another 35 years to wear fucking suits and "mature" clothes.

My tip is to go for the eboy/skater/kpop/edgy teenager. Dont try to be "im not like the other boys". Find what is popular, what girls 15yo in your country find attractive and copy that piece by piece. Use your age to get young girls.

BTW i know you wont listen to me, will dress like a dork, get no girl then at 35 you staert complaining about wasted youth.

Start with shoes. Nice pair of chukkas in a color that works with you prefered color of pants. Same thing with sneakers, plain full grain leather or suede, light or dark colors instead of just white.

Next, jacket. A short light jacket that fit and suit you well. A coat for winter.

>I'm a programmer, am I supposed to wear an old t-shirt with the linux tux on it and carry an old thinkpad under my arm?

Lol

Don't be discouraged by twats like >>17198831. A lot of people like that anon are afraid to unabashedly improve themselves, make decisions, do anything really. They have to convince themselves that the clothes they wear are borne from their personality and hobbies, that their actions are without forethought. This is because if they wore clothes with conscious intention, to manicure their image or the way the world treats them, they'd have to defend that decision. They'd feel responsible for their actions and a lot of people just can't feel good about their actions if they don't get universal approval. It's easier to feign ignorance. They have an aversion to vulnerability. To be decisive is to risk being wrong. If they don't make conscious decisions, they're not responsible for the results (in their mind). But because this mindlessness is a facade, they leave themselves riddled with anxiety and imposter syndromes.

I don't have inspirational fashion to share, I just want to encourage you to shamelessly improve your clothing choices. Any jackass who says you're a fraud for choosing to wear something different rather than letting it "come naturally" is a fool, and they are projecting their own hollowness.
