Not the fact that gravity pulls any extremity downwards, but their attempt impressing that it's the 'relaxed' state of a human foot, the foot that is stood on more than it isn't.

In case it wasn't obvious enough, when people stand up on their feet, their feet aren't dangling below a right angle. And there also isn't a default 'zero' in feet.

Them trying to convince people that a foot simply hanging 'below a right angle' is the same consideration in flexor and weight distribution as when there is the body weight being weighed on top of it when standing or moving.

"Look! When the foot gives way to gravity, this MUST be the ideal position!" That's what's hogwash about it. It's gravity, no shit it bends.

I've got a pair of White's of my own, but this pathetic attempt to appeal to nature is getting to be literal meme-tier stupidity.

Your feet are just weak.
It's things that are weak which "require" support. If you can't manage to simply stand or move for a prolonged amount of time without your bare feet getting sore, you have weak feet, it is really as simple as that. Wearing "support" is atrophying everything that makes up the human foot, and it's foolish to claim otherwise. It's the same reality if you were to wear a back brace for "required support". While it'll make you stand up straight while you're wearing it, but you aren't strengthening your back.

We have someone with a modicum of brain here.

Foot with the body weight pressed down on them is different from not. Whatever position you forced your foot into, it is not resting when your body weight is upon it.

Beside, whatever angle formed by crossing your foot is caused by the ankle. The arch ease doesn't lock your ankle in any way. For a low arch, no arch foot, crossing your leg does not magically create a curve for your foot.

not that anon, but a lot of the focus for zero drop is on strengthening the foot in the closest manner of being barefoot without actually being barefoot, hence the footware flexibility and lack of heel.

What zero drop shoes are 'marketing' isn't hogwash. You are actually strengthening your feet when you use them, so that eventually you don't "require" support to do something as simple as moving.

There's no getting through to you about this topic, though.

i've been wanting to buy a really nice pair of cowboy boots for a long time. been saving up for em. however i pretty much just wear New Balances. I love them for the comfort and ease of slipping them on and off my feet.

Aesthetically though i feel like cowboy boots are exactly what i want and it's time for me to level up my look. years and years ago i used to ride horses and i remember how long it would take me to take the cowboy boots off. which i'm a little worried about, as far as it being annoying. i don't remember the comfort level though.

is it possible to be decently comfortable in a pair of cowboy boots if i'm wearing them all day? i know it's probably dumb to expect them to be like cushioned running shoes, but let's say a new balance is 10/10 comfort, could a cowboy boot at least reach 7/10?

thanks

cushiony is bad because it causes your foot to splay and overextend as the day goes on but is favoured because most people can't stand break in and want the instant gratification of cushiony

any reason to not hammer in the rest of those 9 nail holes on the back of those rubber half soles?
and if you have to be so stingy with production on your $700+ boots that you only use 4 nails instead of 9 couldn't you at least hammer them on the bottom row of holes so at least it's evenly spaced out and doesn't create a bulge that will become a trap for dirt when the half sole inevitably unglues in that spot?

I have the Bedale which is basically the same shoe with a different sole and waxed suede leather.

It's good quality, very wide and tankish. The facings are slightly wonky and the soles uneven until quite a bit of wear. I got them at a big discount though and really like them. Be prepared to send them back or exchange.
