Are polyester/viscose pants cringe? I need to attract kpop-obsessed girls but I don’t have money for wool pants.

>> No.17172942

>>17172931
yea theyre garbage
just wear dickies or save up for some nice pants

why are you mentioning wool anyway? what does the material have to do with anything? you can find that style of pants in cotton or any fabric you could ever dream of
Yes, most dress pants are wool but the way this is put is so strange

Cotton pants don’t drape the same way

>> No.17172993

>>17172948
That's true. However, the drape of cotton is beautiful in my opinion
It's more natural looking than a super flowy viscose and wool still beats poly for a clean, regardless of weight
Go for some pre owned wool pants if you want something like that, otherwise just save your money

they have a nasty shiny texture, are made by lazy/ bad manufactureres usually, plus viscose is definitely bad for the environment (unless you buy that special environmentally friendly branded kind) and poly often is too
wool has a nicer handle
If you want to talk about affordable items, affordable wool is going to beat out affordable poly or viscose almost ten times out of ten

I doubt it, but even assuming that is the case, there are situations where the look, feel and lightness of high quality part-poly trousers are preferred over wool.
>they have a nasty shiny texture, are made by lazy/ bad manufactureres usually
true, but that doesn't men poly is a bad material by default.

Then do that if you care about it, the environment angle seems like a non issue given the point you just made.

Thrift them, seriously, I've bought quite a few wool slacks that clearly hadn't been worn much for less than 20 bucks, even though they were initially sold for multiple hundred at times. I'm not a fan of synthetics especially anything plastic, it's cheap and definitely not even to close to being as breathable as wool.

not op, the only problem with wool is you're suppose to dry clean it. Washable wool is not 100% wool.

Other than that you also have to hem it, it's not tapered, and you rarely see any color/pattern other than black, grey, and navy.

I wash my 100% wool pants in the washing machine all the time. Nothing happens.

>> No.17173813

>>17173736
You don't have to dry clean it, even if you do you're only supposed to do it maybe a few times a year. You can absolutely wash wool, manufacturers just put the do not wash label on there to avoid problems and customer complaints, since you can't exactly wash them like a cotton t shirt, if you do there is a good chance of damaging them. Wool cycle or hand wash is usually no problem and not that different from dry cleaning. Ironing is actually the hardest part. Hemming them is like ten bucks at a tailor or you do it yourself, it's pretty easy actually. The colors are just what has been the standard and works with the most other colors, so it sells.

>> No.17173841

Question somewhat related here. I wear wool trousers often, mostly with derby's. Now I recently bought some low top white Converse 70s and I was wondering if instead of just wearing them with chinos or shorts, if I could wear these with wool slacks. Young people did it in the 60s, but I'm still uncertain if it's a good look.

Polyester is cringe, viscose and rayon are fine. You can also try linen. Unironically look into women's pants, there are some brands that lean into androgyny enough (e.g scandi minimalist brands) that you can wear them as a man if you get the size right. Pic rel is wool but you get the idea, hip space for women translates to ball space for men so it works out ok in the end
