DHP has way more leather and also features prominent rose and sandalwood

I prefer DHP personally, it's more interesting to me and has very strong performance. DHI is very nice too though and it is significantly cheaper, so it's hard to go wrong with either of them if you like gourmandish iris frags

Definitely NOT Black Orchid. Honestly, stay away from designers in general, the use of cheap materials really shows more in florals.
Depends on the kind of flower you want. I think rose smells great on men - Malle Une Rose, Tauer Rose de Kandahar and Amouage Lyric Man would be a good range of very different scents to try to start.

I can't really see it being a mass-pleaser though desu, Dior Homme 2020 or TdH are more inoffensive mass-pleaser woody frags, BI is too pungent for that IMO, too much patchouli, not enough citrus etc.

>> No.17161549

it smells like fresh aromatic soap. Soap is not that expensive. this "smelling cheap" is kind of a meme unless the scent is very synthetic. this is not synthetic, smells nice imo. Ofc if you expect to pick up all the 123123 notes and a fragrance evolution like a Dior frag you will be disappointed. But if you want a very versatile everyday and out of the shower soapy aromatic fresh scent, it's perfect. It's a good meme. And performs better than the average cheapie for sure.

>>17162065
It does taste bad. It absolutely does. If you expect a kiss in that area, spray your elbows/wrists, chest, clothes, behind your ears or on the back of your neck, not the front. I actually found clothes and elbows/wrists to be safest in that regard. I usually skip wrists because shirt cuffs and watch will rub it off, anyway.

>>17162119
It's a unique and strongly woody fragrance. It opens with a spicy basil note on top of the wood. Once the basil note fades, you're left with the smell of dried wood 2x4s and an underlying synthetic oud note - by synthetic I mean that it smells like "clean oud", as you'd find it in Western perfumes, not real oud, and not that it smells synthetic. On top of that wood note is a controversial, slightly turpentine-like note. The fragrance doesn't change much after losing the basil note. Longevity is good, projection is moderate at best. If you enjoy wood-forward stuff without fancy vanilla, amber, whatever on top, it might be for you. It wasn't for me.

>Also how are O Boticário frags priced in brazil?
They have cheaper stuff and not that cheap stuff. Ranging I'd say from 120 to 250 BRL (250 being the more "exclusive" EDPs or something, pic related).
100 ml of VPH costs about 400 BRL, 100 ml of Sauvage costs about 600 BRL. That's buying from the more well-known stores, you can get designers a bit cheaper on Facebook groups (usually where we get testers etc.).
It's hard to give a neutral opinion about O Boticário because since it's cheaper than designers is what 90% of the people who wear perfume wear most of the time (most Brazilians have one designer scent -- like VPH -- which they save for "important occasions"). I personally think recently Natura has been more consistent that Boticário (which has been under a bit of criticism recently because of performance), but that's kind of a personal take on it. Both brands have some "big hitters" that are just their take on popular designers tho (look at the Fragrantica page for Quasar or Insensatez).

Awesome info anon thanks for writing it up for me. Both those brands have caught my attention because they seem to make both more designery crowd pleasing frags and aslo some more interesting out there stuff and they are very hard to find outside of brazil. It makes sense with all the import duties that brazil would have their own home grown fragrance brands and it's cool that there is more too them than just copying popular designer stuff.
Now that ive typed this i actually found some from both brands i can buy in the USA at reasonable prices, i will have to do some reading and remember which ones i wanted to try.
While im asking have you tried any of the small independent Brazilian perfumers, i see there are a few small guys that make their own fragrances and i was wondering if you think any are worth trying.

I no longer have the Sapientiae samples except for Cocoventura, which smells like sweet coconut, pleasant but not that interesting.
I still own the splits I got from Segall & Barutti, about which I've made some posts on 1500chan's equivalent of /fa/. I still like Vanille et Fruits Rouges, but haven't been wearing the others to give honest impressions mostly because I still think they're too oily on the skin. I don't want to be walking around wearing Light Blue in October. Any recs, if not for individual fragrances, but families or notes that may appeal to a more summer-y person? Thanks.
I do see the discussion of winter frags up a few posts and will be weighing those, but 1. I'm looking more for an Autumn fragrance and 2. I don't think they're all bad, just all the ones I've tried hit my skin poorly. Scent warps or wears too quickly, usually.
