Next time you are taking your Electra Glide out of the bubble to take pictures of it, pay some attention to the bikers going by on the road. Notice the staggering proportion of real bikers who wear little to no safety gear. Stupid? Yes. Larping? They are literally riding motorcycles.

I think they liberated the fuel tank from a 80cc dirt bike and plopped it on something much bigger; I'd be surprised if that two-cylinder is 80cc

they are riding a motorcycle at the moment the picture is taken. "Motorcyclist" is a descriptive term for people who ride motorcycles, it's not a secret society with entry criteria

Very true, there's little practical excuse to not at least wear a leather jacket. Looks sick as fuck, abrasion protection of all but the very thinnest leather outstrips the vast majority of hypermodern textiles, can be surprisingly cool in the summer.

How true is this about thin leather? Would the highest quality text jacket beat out a thin leather jacket?

>Would the highest quality text jacket beat out a thin leather jacket?
idk enough of the theory to say that, but generally anything thicker than like 1-1.2mm mogs any single layer of textile, assuming it's not a very weak leather (I hear pigskin is kind of bad here). Really thin stuff (I think some cheap fashion jackets are like 0.7mm) probably won't make the cut. check out this chart:

https://www.motorcycleforum.com/threads/abrasion-chart.100827/

For example, 1.3mm cowhide (very common thickness, even my old fashion jacket meets this) blows every textile out of the water in the time-to-hole test. Two layers of high-quality kevlar edges it out, but two layers of cowhide quadruple that time.

It's really hard to find good abrasion information. This chart is not very good but I've searched a long time and it's the least bad one available. CE Level A/AA/AAA are total regulatory-capture shit in most cases, and even worse when the French get up to their old tricks; I've seen unbacked cotton somehow get away with a AA rating. Go by actual material + specific density/thickness ratings
