That’s true though. Hell, considering how bad old Rolex watches are compared to new ones, I’d go even further and say that if your Rolex is from the year 2010 or earlier, you don’t own a Rolex. And if the Rolex you own from 2011 or later is not a Datejust, Submariner, GMT, Daytona, or Day-Daye, you don’t own a Rolex.

As lovely as the Polaris is, I can think of a couple reasons.
- Power reserve, the Explorer has more of it
- Versatility, the smaller Explorer can double as a dressy watch, the Polaris really can't. It's a sports watch through and through.
- Serviceability, there are Rolex ADs all over the place, so getting your watch serviced is easier and probably cheaper.

They are the smallest of the Holy Trinity and they are the only one without a true hype model. (The Overseas is the cope piece when you can't get a Nautilus or Royal Oak.)

They're not independently owned (Richemont) and have always had a somewhat unfair reputation as simply being an expensive, better-finished JLC, since JLC still does supply them with a lot of their movements. They were the last of the Holy Trinity to start making any in-house movements and are still not completely in-house.

Lastly, they're still quite expensive and very few anons here will ever even hope to have enough money to spend that much on a dressy watch.

I think their collection is currently quite lacking. Setting aside the Overseas which lets face it is fucking ugly, especially compared to the Nautilus and RO, many of their watches outside of the extremely high end limited pieces don’t compare very favorably to Patek. Sane people just aren’t buying a Patrimony or Traditionelle over the new Calatravas, setting aside the supply chain shenanigans going on with Patek. The FiftySix line is abominable. Their saving grace is the Historiques line and the 1921 and Cornes de Vache 1955 are both stunning and watches I would buy over something from Patek.

Wish they could combine MIP with solar.

A regular square with a MIP display would be great. The UI would be vastly improved by it, and if they could cram a GPS receiver in there it would be perfect.

Unless you're doing DH or crashing a bunch, I can't imagine the minor bumps you take on a bike would be enough to faze any modern automatic movement.

That said, though, when I'm riding, I'm always wearing a Garmin. Even if I'm riding to work, I'll leave my watch in my shoulder bag and put it on once I get to work. No sense ruining a nice leather band with sweat.

It's 41mm but it's very comfortable and wears smaller than you'd think because the lug to lug is short and it's only 11mm thin.
Because the bezel is internal it looks like it's all-dial so it looks much bigger than it actually is.

it's just the light - but the GMW 3459 negative displays have this really unique blue-ish glimmer to the display that catches the light at certain angles and looks absolutely incredible. also it somehow has the best readability and viewing angles for a negative display that i've ever seen. like a HUGE improvement from the regular mill.
