Hey guys I am going to the US for the first time in my life and I want to get a gift for my brother. I thought it would be nice to get him something you could only find in the US without importing and I thought about getting him a military watch from a surplus store. I have been looking but there are much more patterns around that I initially thought and I am kind of lost. Also being a foreigner I have no Idea how much I should pay for an example in good condition. I would like to get him something around or under 100 $, something mechanical and something he could maybe wear casually. Is this a realistic budget for this kind of item ?
Is this even a good idea to buy this kind of watch ?
Thanks.

So I thought that it looked great in video and pictures but it's underwhelming and oddly cheap-feeling in person.
The crystal is double-domed and the AR coating (or lack thereof) is so crap that you can barely read the watch at an angle. The crystal appear to sit high above the hands and it's odd.
The band is ridiculously thin and it look and feel like cardboard. The ratcheting clasp is great though, it's just not wide enough.
The slow moving seconds hand look like it's about to stall at any moment.
The hands are roughly finished, it's unacceptable for the price they ask.

Longines had a great idea here, it's just not executed well. That crystal though.

Now that I think of it, the only kind of watch where a date wheel makes perfect sense is a GMT.
I don't mind date wheels on "everyday sportswatches" like the Aqua Terra but I hate how it's the default configuration on literally every sportswatch now.
On tool watches with more specific usage (diver, chronograph...) I always prefer no date.
On dress watches, no date or pointer in a moonphase subdial.

Thank you both for your suggestions. But I don't think you really understood what my request was. I wanted something intrinsically linked to the USA as it's kind of the point of a souvenir. One of you said American watches don't exist anymore. I get that which is why I used that picture. I have issues getting a vintage model and I would in fact think it would be exactly what I am looking for. Problem is I don't know where to get one for how much and which one I should get.

They're both cool watches. For me 44mm is just too big though (as I said to the guy above the seiko is replacing a casio duro which I had for years despite being oversized for my wrist). If I had a thicker wrist I think I would have very seriously considered the Citizen, the titanium case is very cool, and I do prefer the outline on the date window to the Seiko (although I prefer the seiko design in general). It is quite a bit cheaper than the Seiko at MSRP too (though I happen to know that my dad got a reasonable discount when he bought mine bringing them rather closer in price).
