Not a stretch band. Some reviews I've read complain that the band pulls on wrist hairs too much, but I have very hairy wrists and it doesn't bother me. And I find the "stacked segment" style of band more aesthetically appealing than this one: >>17101954

Yeah the A700 is superior to the F91W in every way and I wear it like 90% of the time, but the F91W is still half the price and perfect for working out or any other situation where it's gonna be treated roughly. And it's the original iconic design. Why not get both?

Also does anyone have or tried on the A1000RBW-1? I love the iridescent band, but $180 seems insane to pay for it

>>17102070

Saw it in a jeweler window not long ago and it looked pretty good, not sure if it's all the LED lighting though as video unboxings aren't that good. Not sure if it helps but I have something metal that's coated in the same iridescent way and fingerprints are a problem, I'd imagine that being in contact with skin and hair for a period of time would require cleaning each time.

Not perfect, but it's not bad either.

many ppl have wrist shapes that don't allow for the watch to remain secure above the articulation without being too tight and therefore would be better off wearing big fat squares rather than medium circles
upside down straps is traditional for japanese dress watches for a cleaner look from the outside perspective and in many cases it corrects the problem of the case tending to shift and angle away from the wearer

Having spent a good few hours yesterday watching and reading different reviews on the different models I ended up going with the OG Casioak over the new B2100 models. The newest ones on the market come with Bluetooth to sync with your phone but I can’t be fucked to instal an app on my phone (especially a Japanese app). They also come with a solar panel that will passively charge the battery due to it needing way more power to use the BT functions like auto-adjusting the time and relaying your phone notifications.

The dial on the left has changed from showing the days of the week like on the OG models to now indicating what mode the watch is in (which I find pointless, personally)

Colour options are also super limited on the newer version (pic related) so you’ll have to wait a few months/years for other variations to come out like white or grey or skeleton clear.

After a couple days: honestly thinking of sending it back. Even though it looks great and feels very premium, I keep wanting to just wear my GW-9400. Adjustments with the crown on the GWG-2000 are a fucking bitch compared to using buttons. And the lack of sunrise and sunset, proper city and latitude/longitude settings, which are present on the Rangeman, is annoying.
The fact that the Rangeman cost me 240 eurones, while the Mudmaster cost 640 while offering less features, is bothering me.

the bull bar is pretty much its only defining feature and it presses into my skin too much and leaves an indentation, the case is not small and the module is very basic yet it is 3 year battery and the lack of date alarm is really silly imo (to be fair that seems to be most casio digital watches if i'm not mistaken)
would look dumb next to my g2900 from 2002 with its smaller case, 10 year battery, date alarm, e-data, etc if its resin hadn't rotted apart even while sitting inside my drawer unused for several years

maybe the fault lies with me completely, in that i sometimes get a bit carried away when i see something rad, but man... do i really need to spell it out every time that i'm someone else ?

Hi yeah I did some deeper diving. The gold Illuminator is actually cool. Speaking of diving, I'm now considering a Duro. I'll have to try it on my wrist though.

The industrial standard of screens before windows changed the name of the game was black background w/ white characters (see unix terminals).
I noticed that the screen on the f91 is definitely clearer and I think it has to do with the lack of EL. EL seems to compromise default visibility. With that, I think that the net value, most of the time, is actually forgoing the EL and going with the trashy LED because you're not going to use the light that much honestly. Maybe it depends on your line of work. I'll be able to assess fully when I get the f105.

Back to inverted schemes, the reason why white letters on black background -can- be tiring also (if contract and clarity is not in place), is that visually, white color expands, this gives the impression that characters are "leaking" for lack of a better expression. The "leaking" of white characters can be somewhat mitigated by thickness to give the characters a bit more typographic "body" as it were.

Fun fact: if you read characters that are slightly more towards gray instead of black on a white background (thus lower character-to-background contrast) you will actually retain that information better because it forces you to concentrate.
With looking at the time however, we don't care about that and want as clear as possible because we're mostly going to just glance at the watch real quick.

quite unique, don't see an inverted and normal LCD screen often
>nice bright EL
>world time and timezone map

>compass
would seriously consider buying this, any other watch brand would be 10x the price for these complications

TL;DR
Recommend me a cheap comfortable Casio with a lug to lug of under 42mm, an hourly chime, and 24 hour mode.

I've started looking and am currently considering A158, A168, A700, and A100. All of them can be had for under €50, A158 and A168 even just under €30.
Mostly considering comfort now, A700 has a milanese strap option and A100 has a leather strap option. Should I dislike the metal folded link band on the A158/A168 I'd either have to buy another or put it on a nato strap which only really suits the A158 because of the cut out lugs.

>>17123702
I like it a lot given the amazing functionality and can get it for a good price, but it's almost as long as the diameter of my small wrists.

Thanks for the help anon

Casio spends their money on complications, mostly, these are cheap because they can do digital complications in their sleep. the bands on the other hand are a little more what-you-pay-for, the F91W for example, not a watch poster on this website wouldn't know what it is, and if they don't own one they know someone who does. is the band good? no, is it easily replaced and legendary because of how is still somehow lasts years? absolutely. my only real advice is the SS ones aren't the best and the milanese personally catch hair - but for me that wouldn't change if it were a Casio or a JLC

you make a good point though, if all else fails nato strap or third party band, but that might tip over the budget

The resin bands to look comfortable and these watches are the most affordable, but I think it would look too autistic on me. When I see it on others it rarely doesn't look autistic.

>>17123727
Thanks that helps a lot, with that I'll scrap the A700 (milanese) and A168 (looks bad with nato). Currently looking at two watches, pic related. Not sure what nato would work best on this A158, maybe black or desert tan?

Found a pic of that A158 with a black nato and I don't like it, but it does look pretty good on the black A158. I can't find the classic design black and blue A158 for sale, but I can find these two.
I'm starting to think the completely black A100 looks a bit too hipstery, so I'll probably go with the black and silver or gold and silver A158 then.

That's all I needed to know, thanks anon!

I recently paye 20€ for the F91W-1. Another shop near me (I live in Barcelona) sells it for 17-18€ box fresh.

I just tried this on my hand today. Bought one online from Amazon for 30 or so €. Can get it as cheap as 19€ some places if you're lucky though.

It's not even that hard to get a smaller quartz dress watch, sport watch, and G-Shock to complete it. What about Seiko Dolce SACM171, Citizen Promaster EP6050-17E, and Baby-G BGD-560-1ER?
