First, you don’t use a leather jacket, you wear one.
Second, it blocks wind like nothing else. It’s mostly a mid season thing, late spring early autumn, when the winds are coming in from the North East and the sun is warming up the afternoons but the nights and mornings are crisp

Leather jackets can be pretty warm if they have a good lining. My leather jacket has a nice down lining so it's actually pretty warm, I wear it often in -15c weather.

Like don't. Don't make the same mistake I did. They mark up those cheap """leather""" jackets even at fast fashion places A LOT. It will be a total waste of money for something that will maybe last you a season. Odds are you don't need any such material for a jacket anyway. Get a denim jacket(a decent one from Levis or similar at least) if you want a tougher kind of jacket that you can fall down in or sew patches on or whatever. Or a bomber jacket.

It was great workwear. Work in it and you will feel warm. Also it was worn on motorcycles before dedicated motorcyclejackets emerged.

To be fair a lot depends on the lining of the jacket and the usefulness besides looking cool. Cheap polyester would annoy most people a lot.
