Anything else is retarded and if you care too much about clothes it is an indicator of your own neurosis, i.e. you're fucked up in the head. Clothes should be functional and respectful of the environnent and worker conditions. That's it. The top should have a zipper and a hoodie, multiple exterior and interior pockets, it should be waterproof and made of a fabric that protects you from the cold and the heat depending on the weather conditions.

Same logic for other pieces of clothing.

I unironically think the good old wool is a great fabric, functionally speaking. Wool is more breathable than just about anything else and sufficiently waterproof to deal with the occasional shower. If you're doing normal business about town, you don't get more comfy than wool.

Knit Cuffs<<<<Button Cuffs. Seriously, who thought of this shit. I can open or close the buttons at will to adjust for the temperature. A knit cuff is always closed, and not any more windproof either. Open cuffs are right out, designers responsible need to dropped in the arctic clothed in their own garments. That will teach them.

Every jacket needs it. There's always a level of warmth where you want the front closed, but not CLOSED. If you get what I'm saying. Talking about wind, ever tried walking through wind with an open jacket? It just gets blown all over the place. Snap buttons are best, but anything works. Velcro is NOT an alternative.
>Breast pockets
Need to open SIDEWAYS, not to the top. Have you ever tried getting something out of those shitty top-opening pockets? Fuck that. Yes I get you lose that great vertical symmetry and it doesn't make the chest look bigger. Whatever.
>Length
There is literally no downside to wearing a coat over a jacket - well, no functional downside. Think about it: When we dress warm for colder weather, doesn't it make sense to warm the entire body evenly? Except we don't do that. When most people go from indoors to outdoors, they put extra insulation around their upper body and maybe their head, but they leave their legs just the way they were. Then they freeze their knees off. Our ancestors knew the solution: a COAT. It warms (almost) your entire body. And if it ever gets too warm down there, you open the coat - it fits so loosely around the legs anyway, the extra length barely matters when it's open.

Sure? I don't see anything wrong with that conclusion, not sure what's with all the question marks. I suppose in that respect fashion is rather different than other aesthetic pursuits, in that how you dress yourself is necessarily interpreted as expressing something about yourself in particular, while that's not necessarily true for something like literature or music. I guess fashion designers are a slightly more analogous comparison, since the clothes they make for other people aren't necessarily taken as an expression of themselves.

In almost all other scenarios it’s a liability, because it inhibits breathability. Even in some scenarios where rain is expected, it can be beneficial to forgoe the waterproof layer
