only mostly related to the thread but: I'm trying to get rid of my bed, or at least move it out of the bedroom. I live in a one-bedroom apartment in the city and it seems increasingly fucked dedicating one of my two rooms to a bed I'm basically never conscious in, especially when it gets such good light in the evening. having that as a second living space would make my place feel so much bigger and now I'm in love with the idea

right now I'm investigating if a futon mattress (as in the japanese kind, not the folding-couch kind) would work as a replacement. folding up my bed and tossing it in the closet every day would be pretty easy, and I don't really get back pain or anything sleeping on the floor

however, for several reasons, sleeping on a mat on the floor could be an issue. so i'm looking for alternatives.

there's a big (48" door x ~50 inch deep) closet in the room that I could fit some kind of folding three-quarters-size bed that projects out of the closet and gets folded up during the day. I've looked for options but I can't find any quality options that fold lengthwise and look quality enough for daily use (i.e. not trundlebeds you pull out for your shittiest aunt)

does anyone have any suggestions, or any ideas where I could find such a specific-ass bed?

I'm an amerifat and renting, so serious renovations like that are generally frowned upon.

There are self-contained Murphys as an option, but they are generally more expensive, heavier, and more complex than I'm looking for. They'd be overkill, since the closet is deep enough I really only need to shave about eighteen inches off folded length, not collapse it all into a armoire.

I've taken a peek, all the three-quarter-sized beds I've seen are actually marked for RV use and the like. I haven't looked at sleeper van sofas and the like, that might be an option.

Hmmm haven't considered hammocks either. Those wallmount uplights are going to provide very uneven lighting, should have been a wall wash with a lot of smaller lights.

That single truss on the frame is odd, it doesnt match the finish of the surrounding wood and is out of place (may be structural, in which case another should be added to the other side for aesthetics.

The couch is too long for the wall behind it, it comes past the curtains.

Those chairs to the left are sitting right under the book shelves, which is ok I guess. That chair in the kitchen seems out of place.

The two framed pictures on top of one another in the kitchen is too much. By having two you take the draw from both. Its more like you are trying to cover blank space than showcasing a picture.

Over all cozy.

-Its just beige central. Either paint the walls a different color or incorporate color in another manner
-Get proper window treatments. It looks like you threw black linens over cheap rods for curtains
-Get some actual artwork to hang on your walls; especially something above you bed
-Cable management dude
-If you're gonna get a rug for your room; make sure it is large enough to fit under the bed and the side tables
-Figure out what chair you intend to actually use and put the away the other one
-Get some proper storage; I see plenty of things laying around or getting stacked on top of each other
-Get a plant or two to liven up the place a bit
-Get a headboard; you're a big boy now

Hey guys, a month or so ago I had asked which furniture I should buy to have some space for seating for guests in my small apartment thought I'd give you lads a quick update.

Was thinking of a small 2 people couch or 2 Eames DAW replicas back then. In the end I went the cheapo route and bought 2 Ikea DAW copies with a small side table in between for coffees and my plant. The base on the Eames DAW style looks better than the Ikea chairs but one good quality Eames replica costs as much as 2 of the Ikea ones and I can still replace them in a year or so if I grow bored of them.

That chandelier doesn't really fit with the rest of the room. I think it's the crystal pendalogues. The candle sconce and pendant lamp are both kind of mission style and the furniture is moorish but the chandelier has a victorian feel that doesn't really work. That fireplace in background looks too modern for the furnishings as well.

I'm an art brainlet, so I'm not sure I follow. They're prints of the original, so effectively posters I guess. The print quality seems pretty good and high-definition, and I'm hoping that framing it will make it better still, but a print on canvas would probably be better yeah

That's the thing, posters are flat, but paintings have texture, hence why I'm thinking something else would look more authentic. This is of course personal preference, as I'm trying to get a Victorian inspired style going bit by bit, instead of a modern home with nice art.
