That's more of a thickness issue than a diameter thing. Even smaller divers are going to be thick because of the bezel and water resistance. Like I said, you are going to have to compromise on a few things on that list. If you want want a smaller dive watch I would recommend a Seiko women's quartz diver like

Oris Divers 65, Black Bay 58, and a few of the Seamaster references (which you can get for 5.5 k aud) are my favourites under 6. Why don't you like Breitling? The Superocean is cool.

Other than being a pocketwatch for the wrist this does nothing better than Rolex. A big power reserve is nice but not innovation. It's literally just more of the same and I have to wonder what you would need such a big power reserve for? Anything beyond 72 hours seems unneccessary to me? Sure if you have multiple automatic watches it could theoretically still be running but let's be honest. People who can afford multiple watches on the level of Oris don't actually do that. I think you get the most out of German for $1000-2000, Nomos, Stowa, Laco, Damasko and so on but as he is 60+ the Pointer dates aesthetic may appeal more to him. Respected brand he should know. Oris has moved upmarket in the last load of years so take that into account. Nice watch you can't go wrong, maybe a black dial would be easier to read for older eyes and will be more versatile.
