Beards tend to be alot drier than hair so you don't need to wash it everyday, doing so risks making it even drier and it won't look nice.
I think alot of people even go as far as using various beard oils to increase that oil content.
It really depends on each individual beard, your genetics, etc. Different beards need different care

my beard doesn't smell and I don't use anything for my beard, just rinse it with water sometimes and thats it

Your facial skin doesn't secrete sebum, so just use the same cleanser you'd use on the rest of your face.

I hope you're washing your face with cleanser and not soap, anon. It's very cheap and doesn't leave you looking like an Incan mummy.

How do I make my beard not look like pubic hair?

Comb it with a good brush. If it's too thin, keep it short. If it's too wild carefully trim a little bit to reduce long hairs/fly away hairs.

I wash my beard daily, sometimes with water, sometimes with shampoo. Just don't fall for the meme beard brands. I've seen enough stuff ranging from combs to oils unbranded vs the branded version with insane price differences.

Unbranded wooden comb? Like 3 bucks.
Same wooden comb with a bearded guy/brand engraved on it? 27 bucks.
