Interesting you mention that, Ive looked into it, and was scared away by the reviews. They say its soft/weak, like breast milk?, too herbal, and not really a rose perfume. Since you like it so much, what do you get from it? It sounds good.

Speaking of dirty little sluts, my nectuary came in, and 1oz is so smol. I would get a 50ml of that no problemo, they sent me some samples, nin-shar by jul et mad which is like sweat tarts, i immediately thought. Its more sweet candy fruity rose berry patch thing, I might like it later, but it reminds me like candy right now. Athenaeum by jorum is i dont even know what the fuck. its like boots you tromped around a field in and wrote on them with a sharpie or something. i like it, but i dont know what im smelling, not a love, however

Tell me about Costa Azzurra. The Fragrantica don't paint a clear picture. Some users describe it as light, fresh and clean and others describe it as a dark, mysterious aquatic.

Its one of, if not the longest lasting summer scents I've ever owned. Salty driftwood that has a real bite when sniffed on skin, some of that projects, but the trail is mostly woody ozonic and subtle green notes. Unbelievable for the summer if compliments are your thing and undoubtedly masculine too. Real mature vibe but an 18 year old could wear this. Signature worthy and a dumb reach the last 3 years for me. Gym, office, formal, high heat. Its one of the higher quality all round scents. Same bracket as roja dove elysium and aventus/GIT for me. There is also something in there that reminds me of PDM percival drying but I can't say what. Never understood why people slept on it. The acqua version rightly discontinued imo.

On ebay right now you could grab the private blend verison for great prices

He finds notes of spice, incense and cosmetic and animalic vibes in every frag almost. There is no point to watch his reviews even - he just recite all of those. What troubles me most, he never makes any comparison between frags, never uses examples from his collection. For instance, one of these guccies he hoarded smells like chanel misia, but he would never say that, only the usual blabber about the “cosmetic-y, lipstick-y, incense” notes. How he will explain to Demachy that he wants a spice bomb with the iris, violets and incense?

It’s quite soft but in a classy way, just like all Maria Candida Gentile fragrances. I think polite is a more appropriate word than weak. For some reason they all smell very upper classish for me. I can imagine some old money European types wearing it. It’s quite herbal but definitely rose-forward. I think people are just expecting a loud MFK-sque Bulgarian rose and that’s why they’re disappointed. Rose here is more of a tea rose kind. The three most dominant accords here is herbaceous, bitter-ish green one, soapy tea rose and the lovely animalic accord that 100% reminds me of how a big animal’s like elephant or hippo skin would smell like in scorching heat. It’s not fecal kind of animalic note but rather leathery with some dirty nuances that remind me of Dzing! If you have an apportinity then definitely go for it anon, don’t read too much into online reviews. The scent made it to finals of A+O Awards for a good reason.

Searching for the same notes, Wonderwood is a dry woody scent with dominant pepper note. The pepper note is VERY dominant. You could try Creeds Royal Oud, also very dry, but the sweetness in the drydown put me off.

I will try out Azzaro Visit, it seems to be a dry cedar fragrance with incense. Or you could try Quorum Silver which seems also to be a dry woody, cedar fragance.

For a good fresh pine fragrance you can try Costa Azzurra, it's very piney with aquatic notes, the same direction like a pine bubble bath soap.

There are also fragrances like Serge Lutens or Tom Ford Vert D'Encens, these fragrances are also heavy on the pine note, almost balsmatic, very green, but also too sweet for me. They also cost hundreds of bucks, not worth it.

Have not tried Bottega Veneta Pour Homme, but the note ingredients show that i might be a great pine/wood fragrance. The only problem is the leather note here, might go in the direction of Gucci Guilty Absolute.

it's stupid to blind buy full bottles, unless you're collector with tens of bottles and don't care if you like it or not. two fragrances with 99% similar notes can smell different enough to not make them similar in reality. try as much fragrances possible at your mall, test on skin the ones you like. If I plan to buy a fragrance that's easily available at a mall, I would wear it on hand at least one time to judge how it develops and how it performs. You will find out probably that you like to sample rather owning tens of bottles you won't care for in a week.

that's already 4 great fragrances you got there, objectively. ADG profumo is one the best scents ever, Sauvage is great overall and it has something 99% of frags don't, actual performance. TdH i personally hate, and imo it suits 40+ or elegant clothes, but it doesn't mean it's not a great fragrance for what it tries to be. So be vary that some scents can be underwhelming if you compare them to ADG profumo or will have crap performance compared to Sauvage. You would need a spicy fragrance like the one, ch men prive or of course similar niche fragrances if you want that.

I like it a lot. I thought it was discontinued, but regardless it’s salty and orange and lasts a long time. Hints of green, but mostly it’s an aquatic citrus. It’s hard to articulate it exactly, but it’s got weight to it so it’s not exactly a light citrus. Certainly not one for close encounters on a hot day, but ideal for the beach, the kind of thing that smells great on the wind at the beach. However, having tried Bigarade Concentree, I can say that the orange doesn’t smell anywhere near as good in Aqua Amara as it does in BC.

If you want something really unique for the summer then Oliver by Strangers is a good one. It smells like ripe, juicy fruit. Like taking a bite out of a nice ripe apricot or grapefruit but with all kinds of fresh green notes around it.

>I'm looking for a good summer than doesn't end smelling like shower gel which most seem to.
Try De Bachmakov The Different Company. You can get it for $50 on Notino and other discounter websites here. It's a brilliant green-aromatic perfume. The way it uses shiso makes it conceptually similar to Tom Yum by Prissana, both using oriental cuisine herbs and spices inspirations for making unusual fresh fragrances. Shiso here has this interesting scent profile where one time I get mint and on another sniff I get freshly cut grass. All of that is served on a fruity (fig+citruses)-woody background. Very compelling warm weather fragrance for everyone who wants to look beyond standard combinations of citrusforward and aquatic notes in summer perfumes.

Indeed, I think it's quite polarizing. This was an example of a person who was in love with it just like me. The waiter was hilariously insecure trying to ask me what am I wearing. It was in a bistro owned by a Michelin-star renowned restaurateur, so I reckon he was specifically taught during his training to don't initiate any awkward conversations out of the blue with clients. For this reason I tried to be really polite and initiated a friendly chat about Acqua di Sale telling to make it less awkward for the poor guy.

Just to build a bit more upon this: I was personally not so sure what to think about it myself when I ordered sample. I read somewhere on fragrantica a review where someone was comparing the camphor-like qualities of AdS to Vicks Rub and I couldn't get rid of this thought for the first couple wears. Then I ordered a 5ml decant (that I had been still finishing back then in a restaurant) and have started falling in love with it more and more. And I am so glad I did as now I happily own a full bottle of this Profumum Roma and can't wait for the weather to get warmer. Especially given that I live now in a lovely seaside town at the Baltic sea, so AdS is very apt to wear. A good example why autosuggestion can be a dick and you should rather always rely on your own nose not others' opinion (and also that sampling/decanting is truly the way to go - as much to appreciate some frags as to weed out those that are not in your taste).

That's the duality of vintage faggots. One one hand they'll pay hundreds for bottles stored in full sunlight on a bathroom sill for last 50 years and write 25k long essays on the nuances they can pick up in the opening. On the other hand they'll do these DIY awkward, ugly fridges or shelves lined with cut into pieces thermal bags to store their precious bottles like some fucking kings of goblins. Acqua di Gio Profumo is also excellent if you're into salty aquatics.

If you enjoy citrus but want something with a little more depth, check out Acqua di Parma Colonia Intensa. Very smooth and well balanced citrus with cardamom, ginger, resins, and woods. Can be found at discounters for much less than retail. Classically Italian but modern. Smells luxurious but still subtle and refreshing.

I would also second Carven l'Eau Intense. I would put it in a similar vein as Old Spice, without smelling the same or passé at all. Spicy lavender with ginger, birch and mint. Very casual and but clean and attractive.
