Yeah a nice pebble grain would probably work, you should probably just buy a perlon to try it, at least get a two pice for the grand seiko, they aren't that expensive and they are great for summer. Super comfortable.

Well it does say LIC. BULOVA on it, which is probably a clue, yes.

It is not actually a Bulova movement. It uses Bulova patents under license but the 9162 was designed exclusively for ESA by Max Hetzel (who also designed Bulova's hummers).

I'd get the San Martin. Not having the day/date is a bonus to me because that shit is a hassle more often than it helps. The 12 hour bezel is useful if it comes with lume so you can still time with it, but ultimately the San Martin just looks a bit more classic and striking.

Holy fuck was it a monumental pain in the ass to attach the chinkshit combi bracelet on the square G-Shock, or the strap adapter for that matter. What's worst is the case of the watch is made from plastic so as you're doing it, the lugs are disintegrating in front of your eyes. So much for muh durability. But I already knew this from my old Casios. All Casios are definitively trash as long as they do not upgrade to a metal case. Those lug holes gonna erode. That's how my old W-800H died.
And of course fuck Casio for not making a sub-40mm Duro, and fuck jannies too, cuz why not? I'm mad.

Last time I inquired at my AD I got a smirking sales rep who acted as though simply asking about a no date ceramic submariner was somehow funny. This is at an AD where both my partner and I have spent quite a lot of money over the years and I was already on the list for the discontinued model. Annoyed the @#$% out of me to be honest. I would rather have them politely take my name down and tell me they will do their best with all the earnestness they can muster even if they can not promise on when they will deliver.

I know it is a pointless move and I am not doing myself any favors. But I did let on that his overall response (a combination of amusement and reluctance) was not appreciated. It is not like I came in cold and asked if I could buy their stock of Steel sports Rolexes. I was literally there to have the size adjusted on 7k worth of rings that were bought (by my partner) in their store, while also asking after another (non-Rolex) watch. You can tell me the watch is not available in a professional way that is not quite as dismissive.

I had the most abrupt brushoff I believe I have ever had....he gave me the same sideways glance my dachshund gives me. He told me if I was willing put a down-payment on the watch I might be able to place hands on it sometime in 2022....before then he did not have any in the shop he was willing to put in my hands.
