Can I just brush it back without product?

Took the pic at work, so its not professional obligations. Everyone likes my hair, I always get the "its Jesus" comment, so it's not a pressure thing. I've had long hair off and on and just am not sure if it's my look, I usually regret it when I cut it, but I usually hear it looks better short since I have a long face.
