This is probably a really autistic question but how do you stop clothes from shrinking?

Are you supposed to buy bigger sizes and shrink it?

Are you supposed to buy the correct size and not dry it?

I'm so fucking confused on this

>> No.15810189

Stop using a dryer you retard. Never use a dryer on your clothes unless you hate them.

I know I'm a retard man

How do I dry the clothes otherwise?

I'm literally braindead when it comes to things like this

What is the dryer supposed to be used for? Just towels and undergarments. Serious question.

I air dry all my clothes, makes your clothes last longer, doesn’t shrink them, doesn’t leave them static charged, saves energy, etc. if you have to use the dryer I would recommend the low heat setting. Clothes shrink at high heat, so dryer at high setting or leaving your clothes in your car on a summer day for example.

>> No.15810603

Nearly all clothes come pre-shrunk these days. While air drying clothing is unquestionably better for your shit in the long run, who the fuck has the time and space to do that with all their clothes? Just use a dryer. The only things that should never go in a dryer are untreated wool garments, raw denim, and dry clean only items (and obviously leather and stuff). What sort of clothing do you have that is shrinking?

>> No.15810613

>>15810536
Just hang them over a non carpet floor.

you could hang dry, or only buy preshrunk cotton (assuming you’re talking about cotton clothes shrinking.) or, like you mentioned, size up.

this, the air is dryer in the winter, less humidity so stuff will dry even faster. Also run an extra spin cycle on the washer after washing so more water gets wrung out

They will dry faster outside with the wind, but you can also do it inside. I hang mine inside to dry from my shower curtain pole

The old lady was nagging me for a dryer, saying she wouldnt have to iron anything ever again and the drying stand wouldnt have to take up room (and smells from cooking). Then I looked up the electricity demands on one and bought her a better iron instead.

hang dry the stuff that fits good, stuff with printing and tumble dry other stuff, clothes that aren't that nice, maybe jeans if you dont think they're gonna shrink
always tumble dry low
to hang dry just hang it up on a hanger somewhere
