I've been on the quest of finding a realistic coffee scent for years. For some reason everything I tested was either a sweet-syroupy gourmand with a hint of coffee or this strange mix of hay, tonka and some other ingredients that people believe for some reason smells like coffee. Apart from designers that are all very off from an actual coffee smell, the best were: Carthusia Terra Mia, Keronese Follow, Piotr Czarnecki Shihan, Black Phantom (and it's clone Faviol Seferi Insomnia that people rave about), AKAF Mukhallat di Corleone. None of them were realistic, ground coffee smells (but if you're looking solely for a coffee-based fragrance then try these). The best was Piotr Czarnecki Shihan.

Anyone has any experience with deodorants from the designers fragrances like, like Lanui De L'homme deostick etc? I'm asking in general. They are surely overpiced but I might get a montblanc explorer or something. How good are they as deodorants, how much resemblance do they have to the fragrances smell wise?

tested my sample of nawab of oud intensivo
it's awesome, creamy, masculine rose, it's definitely an oriental, but without the heavyness, strongly considering buying it

>> No.15791601

I've just tested my Elephant and Roses Maria Candida Gentile sample. It parallels in many ways Rose Cuir by FM that I was writing about last time. It's not green and woody but rather a dried roses scent with (slightly) animalic leather. Everything done in the typical MCG way, i.e. it's quiet in a classy way. Most of her scents sit close and definitely don't last an entire day but give you this aura of wearing something of exquisite quality for yourself. I also tried her Lydnon Barry and Lankaran Forest and all were like that. Something that a person coming from old money who prefers to stay quiet about his wealth would wear. It's like wearing a classic Cartier watch instead of a flashy Rolex/AP.
>>15791585
Glad that you liked it man. Have you tried other other OJs? I like almost everything (but the newest oriental line) from them. Black Gold is another 10/10 for me that is as dense as Nawab of Oudh.

I got this from a fragrance swap and plan to buy more from her, if i know what fragrance of her fits to an 25 year old guy.
The fragrance beginns with Mulled wine untill the orange note fades away, after that it will become a slightly sweet cinnamon rose scent, it sits close to skin up to 1 meter and has a 6 hour longevity then it becomes an skin scent, on my skin.
In my opinion it is one of the best winter fragrances, but pls don‘t blind buy it, or any other fragrance.

Has it ever occurred to you that you can just put coffee beans in your pockets? Nobody wants to smell like lunch, why the fucking fuck, for what fucking reason to reproduce a photorealistic smell of the coffee if every person in that solar system might just have it all day with them in the cup.

>> No.15791809

You misunderstood me. I want an AUTHENTIC coffee smell not smelling like ground coffee. The thing is that typically everything happening around the coffee note is there to hide that it’s not really anything close to how the coffee smells like. That’s why every time it’s subdued or otherwise smells blatantly like a weird mix thats suppose to mimic the coffee note. Perhaps there’s some technical reason why one can’t really extract the coffee note we’ll just like with grapefruit as we talked in the last thread

>> No.15791815

Probably note. All Zootopians are very unique scents. Perhaps there are some qualities/notes you can abstract and we can find something else implementing them instead? I think it’s way more productive than looking for a smellalike of an ultra niche brand.

le labo
bergamote 22 - definitely love this one, fresh bergamot with the le labo musk backdrop works great (looking forward to spring)
the noir 29 - kinda sickening fruit/animalic opening for some reason but i like the drydown a lot. Definitely get the black tea and wood, like wet tea leaves
gaiac 10 - this one isn't what I expected, getting incense and very soft wood.

cdg
blue santal - pine/sandalwood/juniper/mushroom? something weird in this one in addition to the woody smells which i love. i kinda wanna cop a full bottle and go with this as my signature. love it for southern california

ds & durga
cowboy grass - thought this one would be grassier, it's got grassy but kinda on the powdery side instead of herbal
debaser - love this one too! wood, coconut, and fig. A little too sweet, wish it went harder on the wood and less on the fig.

You can either buy the deluxe spray samples directly from Zoologist or buy 0.7ml sample vials from Luckyscent. The spray samples are a better deal per ml and let you get more of a feel of what the bottle would be like and have a better resale value if you do that sort of thing, but they do cost twice as much as a Luckyscent sample. If you've got a short list of Zoologist perfumes you really want to try I'd go with the spray samples, if you want to try everything I'd do Luckyscent.

Do keep in mind that Zoologist is heavily overhyped in this gay fag general.

I've tested all of the Papillon perfumes and I've got some thoughts on them.

Bengale Rouge - Smells good, a little too heavy and sweet. This would be the perfect perfume for a mother because it smells very warm and comforting.

Dryad - Very natural, very green, not my style, and I try to avoid "oakmoss" perfumes from IFRA compliant companies

Anubis - Great, love it, I'm buying it. The dry but smooth leather with subtle incensy and floral notes is really nice.

Tobacco Rose - Smells kind of sour to me. I much prefer Kazimi by House of Matriarch for a high quality natural rose perfume.

Salome - Very sexy, very complex, I love it. However, I think it fits a woman more than a man. Not because it's slightly feminine, but because it's so bold and sexual that I don't think a man can easily pull it off. Like it or not, women have a much larger range of what they can get away with.

Angelique - Very feminine, smells very nice, incredibly weak projection and longevity.

Quick fellas, please help me with a recommendation for women’s perfume. I‘d love to get my sister something for Christmas. She‘s styled somewhat alternatively and burn this holy wood and joss stick stuff.
She always comments positively when I wear my Interlude.

Buying her interlude man is beyond a gift budget for me, interlude women is uninteresting in my opinion. Do you have any other recommendations for a nice, not too expensive and somewhat nichey scent. Preferrably european brand, maybe ELDO...

Last thread you (?) recommended The Lover's Tale for a date scent. That's fucking stupid. Almost no woman is going to be into that (even though it is a good perfume)

> Essenza is more similar because of the neroli but definitely smells more like a luxurious white soap than TF does.

I keep seeing this but to me Colonia Essenza smells like the first soap ever made, indeed I've never smelled much luxurious hotel soaps. It is probably the most outdated smell I've encountered, and I've tried some Azzaro Pur Homme, etc.

It probably was groundbreaking when it was released and soaps started to copy the smell, it's not a bad smell but it reminds of soap too much. At least for an European, maybe American soaps are different. I just can't see this being pulled off by someone under 40. Possibly that this association is not made by everyone and it's just me, anyway. But do try it if you feel like it, I also ordered a sample.

Nothing against ADP, I like a lot ADP Oud, and will try some more from them.

The "soap smell" is generally made up of aldehydes, white musk, and white florals (jasmine, neroli, lily-of-the-valley) which is all present in Essenza.
Essenza was released in 2010 though so classic soap companies definitely didn't copy that one ;)

In theory you got all (at least cold weather) ocassions covered but most of these are not particularly remarkable fragrances and I really hope you were buying online not full retail prices. I would get some warm weather scent: consider Ferrari Bright Neroli, Carven L'Eau Intense, Guerlain Vetiver if you want something affordable. Or perhaps some Acqua di Parma, Prada L'Homme ot Eau Sauvage if you want to stay within the designer world but pay a bit more.

I'd say you would also need a fresh fragrance. Zadig is a heavy incense vanilla, you're covered for the winter. I don't rate BdC as a summer fragrance to be honest, but to each their own. Also, I have no issues having 2 fragrances that are in the same category as long as I like both a lot. And won't get a specific fragrance just to have one, for example a rose fragrance if I don't like rose.

Testing J.F. Schwarzlose Berlin Leder 6 Fetisch. I think one of these times when the producer had a marketing brief ready for release before the fragrance was ready. It should be named 'Styrax 6 Softy'. It opens with smell of warm saffron milk with a sprinkle of vanilla. Soon after that dry, resinous and woody styrax comes out (it reminds me a lot of how Francesca Bianchi is using this this ingredient in her fragrances or how it smells in Arquiste Nanban) and remains the dominating note for the rest of the lifetime of this scent but the perfume remains soft and 'round' as in the opening phase. You can pick up some honey and incense nuances are showing up but if you don't focus really hard you won't pick up any leather. I think that it's just a leathery nuance of styrax and there is no actual leather here anyways. It's funny how off are votes on the most prominent notes both on fragrantica and parfumo.net on this one. Autosuggestion is a powerful really thing if all of those people think that there's any leather note here. Perhaps people confuse it with styrax that most of people don't know the scent profile of. Projects really well. Overall a very nice crowdpleasing scent for those who would like to anyway smell a bit unique.

yes, sure. I'm aware of the otherside of the coin too. but at least I'm on the least obnoxious side of it. sometimes I try to not check for what somebody else is saying about a fragrance, but you know, we like fragrance and like to talk about it so we come across all kind of opinions. I have a decant of this, it's a very good scent but unfortunately it is still a a bit too sweet. Here's my review from when I tried it:

Another fragrance I got because I wanted to try some coffee fragrances, and this one is sooo yummy. It opens with some heady rum notes but quickly goes into something that smells like a sweet hazelnut and caramel latte (not much espresso). The further it gets towards the drydown, it gets more and more burnt (in a great way) and ends up smelling a lot like gingerbread and coffee in the end, which makes it a perfect Christmas-time gourmand where everything smells natural and does not come off as cloying at all (and I'm not a big gourmand fan!). If you like the notes, then it's a safe buy, because that's basically what you get.
VERY oily fragrance that lasts a long time too.
