Maybe scroll through r/malefashion and try to find new/cheaper designers that look interesting to you.

Y'know - unironically I had some luck with thrift stores but this is not a viable supply line.

When I was in London I visited several places that specifically sold used, high-fashion items for half the price or slightly higher than that. Maybe in the US, this is also a thing.

These dresses are basically laura ashley in the 70's, thrifting is the way to go anon. Pretty much anything pre 2000's is going to be higher quality fabric, I personally seek out vintage fabric to work with cause it's much more solid. Most high fashion is a riff on an already established idea. I haven't ventured much in vintage high fashion but I'm sure you could find what you're looking for.

>>15779598
>isn't most of the price of high fashion in the name and hype?

Absolutely, I was just looking at some of the new dresses on gucci's site which is all about the 70's right now. The wool flannel dress is something I could assemble myself with the right notions, the stitch work is likely impeccable, but a lot of the markup is due to marketing and prestige.

you're basically asking for high fashion and designer clothing, but thats too expensive for normal people obviously. If you're located in Europe, I recommend vestiarecollection for buying used and off season designer clothing for reasonable prices. I got an Acne Jacket for 70€ on there which might not be what you're looking for, but its a good example of the steals you can make on there.

High fashion is best for what you want, yeah, but remember that brands like Balenciaga and stuff are 'designer' and just sell expensive crewcut t-shirts and clown shoes, so to actually find stuff you like you'll have to look at collections. You can then make a choice to find cheaper versions of what you like, replicas, or buy stuff from old collections second hand or refurbed, or just take inspo from the collections and hope you find comparable stuff in the mall

Just make them yourself. Sourcing esoteric fabrics won't be economical at that scale, but you can make w/e the fuck you feel like. It's not hard to sew, it's not hard to drape or make patterns, it's not hard to do anything, you just have to try. Tailoring/etc is one of those things where you can get good results by just trying hard and doing research.

>>15780163
>Sewing isn't hard
Absolute lies. It's hard and challenging depending on what it is and if you want to do it right, but it's so worth it. It's a lot of trial and error and learning from mistakes, but the feeling when you actually make something with clean lines in a style you're interested in is insanely satisfying.

There are some great indie fabric outlets that cater to the maker crowd with higher quality fabric and patterns available that actually look good instead of lacking in detail and obviously hand made, it's a good time to get into sewing.

Sorry if I wasn't clear, it's different from an antique shop, it's an antique fair where a bunch of people come to sell old shit, they'll usually have them in the summer. Nothing going on now I imagine, but if you google it you should see what's around.

Sounds like you want Haider Ackermann. Yes, it's expensive and yes, you're probably paying a lot for the name but you're also paying for the design and details and everything you're saying you want.

Haider Ackermann was once under the same umbrella as Ann Demeulemeester, which is another label that you should check out. You can see the kinship in the tailoring and attention to materials. Ann herself left the company years ago so do take a look at the old stuff from the late '90's to the late '00's as that her best work. The current label has actually had something of a return to form of late so don't discount the stuff from the past couple of years.

15781140

There was a really amazing father son clothing label out of London called De Rien. The father ran a stall selling vintage fabrics at two of London's most famous markets, Portobello and Spitalfields. The son began creating clothing out of the fabrics with a nod to period styles. I haven't seen anything new from them for years and it wouldn't surprise me if they'd closed up shop. That's one route you could take though is to source vintage fabrics for your own projects to add more character.

Pic related is a grail of mine and I kick myself every now and again for not buying it when I had the chance. The silk is treated using an ancient Chinese technique of dying it with yams and then burying it in iron rich river mud.

But the idea isn't to buy "brands" the idea is to look for clothes everywhere, you can't just switch out H&M for Balenciaga and be fashionable that's what retarded rich normies do.
You've got to have your own style, some set of ideas that you abide by when making your outfits, that's the most basic thing, then you can start looking for clothes.
