You still discuss these boring microshitters? They all look wonky and just a slight bit off. You can see that they were designed by somebody who has no clue about proportions. That guy is right, 2K for a poorfag ETA is just hilariosly kikish. Well, breitling got away with smilr, asking 4k$+ for basic bitch ETA's, but that's another story. Because it's not 'only steel', it's the Rolex proprietary alloy which is very good. I own steel and titanium and honestly I prefer steel. Titanium isn't more scratch resistant, only impact, and since that is the most common form of damage to a case or bracelet you are basically paying a higher price simply for the lighter weight. Some people like lighter watches, I have found out I don't. If I'm wearing something expensive I enjoy the fact I can feel it on my wrist.

I think Sinn has some watches that are filled with argon gas and have moisture absorbing capsules inside. They can replace the capsules during service iirc

its a bit memeish and kinda an eventually losing battle against time though. I think its romantic and shows the age of a watch. Like how bronze watches were all the rage a while ago because 'they age and patina along with you'
of course some patinas turn out ugly and unbalanced but others are very nice to look at, even drastically increasing the value of the watch severalfold.

pocket watches will make a comeback as formal watches in the next few years: smart phones made the concept of "pocket tools" popular again, the preference for bigger sized and more extravagant looking watches shows that people want their watches to be noticed (and with pocket watches they can achieve that without looking "low class"), the quality of even upper-mid range pieces costing a few hundred dollars is superior to anything found today outside the sub-10k non-haute horlogerie segment (decorated in-house movements with screw-on gold chatons, blued screws, swan neck regulators, enamel dials, hand decorated precious metal cases), they are rare and exclusive assets compared to modern mass produced wrist watches, and they are the last segment where dealers and the affiliated watch press can still make huge profits after the vintage craze (and the same narrative that bred a new generation of collectors can be easily transferred to pocket watches)
