I'm a poorfag, if I had the money for the cheapest rolex (datejust?) I'd still buy a GS snowflake instead and pocket the difference. 10 grand for a watch made of steel?!?! Some high end watches (that I'll never be able to afford) look gorgeous but a lot of them are tacky and are being bought because of the name on the dial. display caseback is nice.
all in all its a entry mechanical, dont expect too much of it. There is no handwinding which can be annoying once you own a few watches.

also take a look at orient tristars/flights, they occupy the same niche and at the same prices and functionality. There are also other choices in homage brands. Another $100 will get you the san martin flieger with a better movement and WR.

Thank you for not letting me hanging with the curiosity. That seems not too dodgy, imo. Don't know how much significance the RRP has in britain, but here in germany it's often too high on purpose and stores write it on the tag to make us feel good about how much we "saved". Punch the model into google, i found them being all over ebay and other shops for around 200€. But some go for 180€, Mind the VAT of 16%. Wait for the conformation of that guy, but i'd also say it's pretty safe. If that store exists physically, then they have a return policy and abide by british law. So no scams.

Still. may let pick one up. Theres a black a and gold colour-way that was a wornandwound limited edition which pops up for sale from time to time. Might go that one.

>Casio’s latest watch to bear its venerable G-Shock name is the Rangeman GPR-B1000. Building on Casio’s initial foray into the GPS world, the Pro Trek WSD-F20, the Rangeman is the first ever to combine solar power with GPS compatibility. To be clear, there are limitations with the design—using the navigation tools require pairing the Rangeman with a smartphone, and the GPS mode will drain the battery even in direct sunlight. But it still represents a notable step to address the issue of battery life for extended backcountry trips. ???

Can you explain this to me, why would you wear a GPS watch that needs a smartphone if you already have a smartphone which has its own GPS, how does this make any sense at all?

it runs at 4hz (28,800) instead of the seiko's 3hz(21,600)

however it does not have hacking, the seiko does.
iirc the seiko NH38A also can handwind. (its just a dateless version of nh35)
some rotor noise will likely also be audible which is normal for all entry autos.

The build quality is quite good, it's been very accurate for what it is(~30 seconds gained over a 4 day period), but the strap is shit. I'll likely throw it on a bund for shits and grins. To be completely honest, I’m a first time luxury watch buyer so I asked because i frankly don’t know much shit.

The innards look rough around the edges but it looks to be all authentic. Im still inclined to get it due to the price (1,600 seems pretty good even for a reworked dial) and its not easy to come across a watch like this from where I’m from. I still worry though if I’m making a right decision.

a redial is worthless, this is true not just for rolex but any vintage watch, even for shitters
a original rolex with heavy patina is worth its price specifically because of the original dial. With a redial the value of the watch drops like 75%
100% original parts as much as possible, you should also look out for overdone polishing where the edges are worn down/lost
the movement should look pristine, a gunked up watch will cause all sorts of problems down the road and you'd have to spend extra to service+clean it

personally a well done relume is as far as I'd go
