Can someone explain to me why quartz watches have all these neat things on the dial that are usually considered the absolute pinnacle of dial finishing on mechanical watches, but it's just 'le mall shitter design that doesn't matter ' on a quartz watch? I have no idea. But if you buy an ST19 watch, make sure it's one of the more reputable brands. For chink watches, seagull is the one that makes the ST19. HKED (hong kong) is also liked. If you see some other chinkshit you want for some reason, ask. Western or "western" microbrands, just google for their qc in general and that will tell you all you need to know.

The quart ones just have the mass production version of the dial details. The luxury trash has stuff often done the old fashioned way. Of course that is better but the also use these tricks to inflate working hours on a watch and inflate prices.

The question is why the watches in the "entry-mid range luxury" i.e. $5-10k mostly have boring simple dials with barely even applied indices, much less anything else. The casio will need only battery changes. There are def. modules of casios and parts sold online, just need to know what to look for. But if you can't find parts, it's unlikely that you will be doing the repairs if the casio has some fault in maybe 30 years.
Look at vintage digital analog casios sold online, they are still working sometimes, even 40 year old ones. Seiko is also solid but looks boring, imo.

What do you think of these? The big numbers are just lovely for me. The green one is my fav.

I do love the Overseas and like the Nautilus Royal Oak. They are dated but in the same way mid century modern looks dated but still beautiful. That angular integrated bracelet captures that late 70s and 80s feel so well.
