it depends. in my country catholics wear whatever they want , as a kid i would wear cheap tracksuit bottoms and t shirt. catholic adults wear colourful shirts or coats. protestants in the other hand wear proper clothes as if they are going to a formal event, a suit or atleast proper work trousers, shirt and smart jacket. women would wear proper dress or blouse or mature cardigan.

In the UK when you go to Church try to dress in a respectable manner, so avoid sports wear or anything overtly revealing, but at the same time don't go overboard with a 3 piece with a cravat.
Maybe wear any casual collared shirt any trousers except sports trousers and you're good, so jeans and chinos work fine, just don't wear trackies or yoga pants, smart casual
