No I do not agree. All that matters is the proportions of the watch on someones wrist. Diameter alone isn't even a good indicator. Lug-to-lug length, are the lugs curved or not, how does the bracelet fit etc. So many factors go into the how a watch looks and wears.

Can you Rolex fanboys shut the fuck up with your historical revisionism? Hans Wilsdorf was a marketer, not a watchmaker. Rolex was, from the very beginning, sold through hype and they were snatching up celebrity endorsements before it became illegal to discriminate against negroes.
The whole reason that "OFFICIALLY CERTIFIED CHRONOMETER" text appears on Rolex dials to this day is because Wilsdorf got the certifications, at a time when no other watch bothered to get them because those certifications were for big ass tabletop clocks. He got them purely to put advertisement on the dial.

For a non-meme answer, the real problem is that every mechanical watch has some kind of shock protection now, meaning that being a neat tool watch is pointless. The main things they have are high production compared to others, some of the best bracelets out there, and movements touted to have a service life of 10 years which is double what other manufacturers claim. I would certainly not turn down a rolex, but if I want a "tool" watch in mechanical form I'd go for Sinn, Bremont, or Damasko which use some form of case hardening.

Last thread an anon was saying that this bezel is aftermarket on this Pogue - if you're still here can you let me know what the tell is? Hopefully this photo is a little better.

I've done some research and am not seeing any telltale signs that there are aftermarket additions.

Are you talking about the indicator dial or the actual bezel?

It's a Seiko 5 and there is no point to servicing it. You can source a movement yourself. I don't know if 4R36 movements will go in it since those use a 7S26, but it probably will. They cost 40 bucks. You can probably haggle a watchmaker to pop it in for you for 20 if you don't want to do it yourself. That's 60 to upgrade the watch. Servicing it would probably cost 80-100 and they might just change out the movement anyway.

What's a decent watch?, a watch do you like?, a watch others like?, a watch which value is based on marketing or external circumstances?, a watch that tells the time?a pretty dial? a rare movement?, a reliable watch? a watch that fits you and your style perfectly?...

Nice watch is an extremely broad term, there are nice watches at every price range, from the humble casio f91-w to the most expensive Richard Mille.I have a vintage shitter that has a lovely dial, posted it a couple of times here and it got some praise, I love its dial, I never seen something like that, not even top watches, my shitter is inexpensive, but its nice as fuck and I like it more than other expensive watches, and its also smol so it fits perfectly.

Find some old broken vintage pieces and learn to repair, that could be interesting and cheap.

Bracelet watches must have a micro adjustable clasp personal. I like the 36mm explorers more for the glossy dial. 58 is a nice watch but I'd rather have an Omega. I avoid dates on vintages watches (I know might be passed down) but vintage seamasters are brilliant. The other 2 are not my thing honestly.

6.5/10
Better than most, good for 35. Add a chrono or gmt. Sell the Japanese watches and get a GS, unless they were passed down. Add slowly, cars, gf/wife, kids, house, lifes expensive.

So there's the ref SNKL21K1 and I want to fit the same bracelet that's recommended for the above (19mm with those endings) for this gold side ref.

Will the bracelet fit? Not so sure if I'm overlooking some shit with the endings of the bracelet to get a proper fit with the watch.

For vintage automatic, I'd say 5646 if it didn't have the annoying breaking quickset problem. So instead probably 5246. Both are slimmer and much more elegant in design than the high-end models of the 61 series. For vintage hand wind, the 4502.

For modern movements, the 4S15 and derivatives (which is just a resurrected 52XX). The 4L/6L movements look interesting, but I don't really know much about them. The 4R and 6R movements are ok, but in design they are essentially the same as 7S so a bit boring.
