Join the duffle coat master race

I bought a nice black one with real bone toggles from S&M.

They aren't a trendy piece.

Yes OP - it is suitable for many different occasions (even though by just entertaining the idea of putting a hoodie under it, I'm guessing you won't need it for anything more formal). Get one that fits and has at least decent quality and it will last years, which is great because despite what contrarians here say, it's a timeless piece

Yeah, but make sure you are buying either vintage or something that will last a while. You could wear a hoodie underneath it, but it would tell everyone you are an idiot.

Not if you're going to bulge out in the middle like the guy in the pic. If you've got a decent physique, sure. Don't wear it over a hoodie - if you want to wear it casually something like an Aran jumper would look better underneath.

It's not. Very heavy wool, much better quality and weight than Gloverall crap. Spier and Mackay make really nice stuff. That pic just sucks

I wear one during semi-cold months driving to and from work, but once it hits freezing I just wear a down jacket. I don't think they're very fashionable, but they are functional.
