To me it always looked like an alternative to Stone Island, especially with the left sleeve patch. Doesn’t help at all either that I’ve seen football fans wearing them

the pullovers and hoodies are great quality too, when it's on sale outside of Japan it's a great price.

you've seen football fans wearing stone island or cav empt? I like the chav aesthetic but I didn't think Cav Empt was appart of it. I actually own the Nike Cav Empt football jersey.

Old Cav Empt was poor and frequently had to work with factories that had existing patterns, so had to work within the boundaries of that pattern to create interesting items, resulting in interesting prints or applique on items that normally wouldn't be printed on. I own pic related, which uses a mixture of high density screen printing and embroidery for the graphics. One of the major things I've noticed is that newer Cav Empt only uses screen printing and doesn't, or rarely, uses embroidery or appliques. Many of the sweatshirts, and some of the hoodies, from 2013-2016 used these methods instead of just screen printing. It gives more 'depth' to the item. Most recent graphic prints, for tshirts as well as sweaters and hoodies, use low fidelity graphics that look like they were autovectored in Adobe Illustrator from a photo. Older graphics draw more inspiration from 90s and early 2000s computer generated graphics like what you would see on Jungle albums and rave posters.

The other thing that really bugs me about modern C.E is how they overdye such a huge number of items. I don't understand it but it looks like a form of pre distressing to me, which doesn't suit the brand at all.

Their design ethos shifted in 2017 or so. This link https://files.catbox.moe/o50q4z.jpg is to an 8mb image of all items released by them up until late 2017 or 2018, I don't remember. You can draw a pretty solid line after the red and blue gloves and say that was the cutoff point for consistent quality, and you can see it degrading a bit before that.

This video shows off the early style of the brand pretty concisely - https://vimeo.com/43713942

The rubber badge was only used sparingly in the first few years. It's become much more prevalent in recent years with hypebeasts buying plain hoodies just for the badge.

>>15461475
This collaboration was just embarrassing. When I first heard details of C.E shoes that weren't vans I was excited, then saw they were Air Max 95s

I'm happy to keep collecting the old stuff from them as I can find it. Their new seasons have 1 or 2 nice items per season and I'd consider buying those, it just sucks that now that I have spare money to throw around on stuff like this they're hardly producing anything I like.
https://www.cavempt.com/lookbook
Pretty much all outerwear on this page has no prints on it and is hinging solely on the silhouette and whatever details they sprinkle on it.

I went to the Cav Empt store in Aoyama in Janurary. The store itself was really nice, but there was nothing in there that I wanted to try on, let alone buy.

That's bizarre, in looking for a suitable picture to attach to this post I stumbled across this website which has the jacket in my first post in stock in size L only for a huge price. https://concrete.nl/collections/men/cav-empt
If you're desperate, go for it.

I don't really understand the association either, but from what I can understand it's always been relatively popular in the UK, albeit at inflated prices. Maybe Feltwell was well connected enough and getting D double E to model in some of their first videos and photoshoots caused the association, along with electronic/rave music being popular in that part of Europe to begin with.

that's very interesting, I'm very into them now but only started getting into their stuff a few months ago. This one looks quite a bit better, but again the stuff that's printed on it and the overdyed hoodie seems very lazy compared to their old stuff and just slapped together. Overdye looks so off with their products, I don't understand their obsession with it.

I think you're on to something, what drew me to Cav Empt in the first place were the desaturated colors on their outerwear pieces.
