I was looking for pictures of boldr watch to make fun of and now I actually kind of like the venture, it looks like they ripped off the case of some old Japanese watch.

Picked up one of these for 10 bucks off eBay, they're pretty nice. I don't like the clasp, but a 4mm watch with a 1.7mm strap wears very nicely on the wrist.

Replacement bracelet that you buy and leave sealed airtight. You can have the original polished. But if you are obsessed and get it polished too often, there might be less and less material on it.

Also, scratches don't bother me if they don't ruin stuff. Like super deep ones directly where i see them on the case. Bracelet is no problem for me.

I know what you mean, but it'd be pretty awkward. Citizen opts for a more square kanji look, and it just makes the window look a bit barren. You'd need a full on custom design purely for the Japanese market, and I'm pretty sure half of them just use English day, especially the younger crowd.

How? I mean, I've got a shitty little fitness watch I use for GPS and heartbeat tracking, but at least it has a 30 day battery life.

These flagship smartwatches with battery lives that are measured in minutes have little to no utility. My fitness watch is 90% a gimmick, after all.

Then get both. The Neptune is notably nicer but the sailboat is a great, fun little beater. You could get the local one first and just get a Neptune down the line. If you have FOMO they seem to be producing them more consistently now, they drop them once or twice, even three or four times a month recently instead of once every 1-2 months like before. And the orange and blue ones are still out of stock, you may want those which release later this month, apparently.

The dadaists were essentially trying to escape the passage of time, they wanted to live in an almost permanent state of childlike bliss. They rejected adulthood, war, capitalism. Wearing a watch would surely have been anathema to them, a constant reminder of the encroachment of death, a true symbol of the adult world.

Here's something very rare for you Russiaboos that I've found on the bay: https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/POLJUS-VERY-RARE-BEAUTIFUL-RUSSIAN-MECHANICAL-WRISTWATCH-01/233630038250
Especially made for the the members of Soviet arctic expeditions, with antimagnetism achieved by the use of a two metallic shields (one on the back of the movement, one on the dial side) forming a Faraday cage. Only a dozen or so pieces are known to exist according to WUS threads, mostly frankens. This one looks all original but the dial and the case are in a rather bad condition (still has the gasket and the antimagnetic shield though). The price is unreal imho, it should be worth around 250-300 realistically (and I'm not collecting Eastern Bloc pieces), but ofc it's extremely hard to price in a piece so rare.

Saddam watches are plentiful if that's your poison, they exist in different qualities from the Iraqi Airforce Breitlings through upper-mid range vintage swiss dresswatches to asian quartz shitters. There's even an album published on them: https://www.setantabooks.com/product/saddam-hussein-watches/ Funny thing is Breitling won't service the Iraqi navitimers because Saddam apparently failed to pay for them after they were delivered.

I'm only regurgitating what I've picked up desu, the movement itself is claimed to have beryllium alloy moving parts by Russian collectors, too, so I guess that might do more for antimagnetism. The shields are there tho, and one piece shields on the back of the movement are commonly seen on 1940's-1950's swiss "antimagnetic" watches, I wonder what function might they serve?

yes, since magnetic fields don't "terminate" (because there are no magnetic charges) then they would just pass through an amagnetic material. amagnetic materials aren't affected by magnetic fields unless the fields are so ridiculously large that they start interacting with the fields of individual atoms.

> Rolex artificially limiting supply.

The watches aren't a supply And demand thing....

A lot of ethnic kids are obsessed with Rolex watches because of the status. And that status is only built up on the heritage (which they know nothing about) and the retail price.....

So with ethnic kids, especially Mexican kids. It has a mythical status and it's a game of telephone.

So in Mexican communities every Rolex ever is solid white gold, with a second hand that sweeps not a high bph mechanical that has a solid gold crown at the 12 hour indicator. And that every Rolex goes up in value no matter the model.

You can take them to a jeweler And show them a stainless steel submariner that is none of that but they won't listen.

They'll just keep saying "dang" over and over again.

Like these kids don't even follow logic..okay so if what the said was true. If every Rolex is solid gold why don't you just buy out every Ben bridge jeweler of date just and sell them for melt value? And make thousands?

If every Rolex gained 10-20% in value annually regardless of provenance....the. Why would anyone buy a used Rolex since a black/as submariner made in 2016 would arguably be 50% more than the sticker of one produced in 2020?

A used '16 Sub actually DOES go for more than a new one, though, thanks to Rolex's obnoxious waiting list bullshit. This is from a dealer so prices are a bit inflated but even private sale ones on Chrono24 are more than current MSRP.

>The Dutch described tulip contract trading as windhandel (literally "wind trade"), because no bulbs were actually changing hands. The entire business was accomplished on the margins of Dutch economic life, not in the Exchange itself.[35]

>By 1636, the tulip bulb became the fourth leading export product of the Netherlands, after gin, herrings, and cheese. The price of tulips skyrocketed because of speculation in tulip futures among people who never saw the bulbs. Many men made and lost fortunes overnight.[36]

>Tulip mania reached its peak during the winter of 1636–37, when some bulbs were reportedly changing hands ten times in a day. No deliveries were ever made to fulfil any of these contracts, because in February 1637, tulip bulb contract prices collapsed abruptly and the trade of tulips ground to a halt.[37] The collapse began in Haarlem, when, for the first time, buyers apparently refused to show up at a routine bulb auction. This may have been because Haarlem was then suffering from an outbreak of bubonic plague. The existence of the plague may have helped to create a culture of fatalistic risk-taking that allowed the speculation to skyrocket in the first place;[38] this outbreak might also have helped to burst the bubble.[39]
