Whenever my friends have visited Seattle the say it makes them miss and appreciate LA/Chicago/NYC even more. If you're into anything current you'll probably not care for Seattle. If you're still into 90s grunge/indie rock and you're big on tech then you'll enjoy Seattle.

I'm a born and raised Seattlite and the people here are generally not /fa/. We have a huge amount of tech transplants who are generally exemplify the statement "you can't buy taste". Many of them look terribly depressed and they seem to cope by retreating into the unrealities of different simulacra. They don't get enough vitamin D to live healthy lives and that kind of person is not fun to hang out with.

I think the number of true locals here with a deep connection to the area who are thriving is quite small and most of them are older. Many of the high quality people go to California or elsewhere when they grow up. We don't have much industry here anymore outside of tech, and those people are here because of our proximity to some of the cheapest electricity in the continent and the beauty of the environment that these people think they are going to engage with.

I've observed a feedback loop between locals who are from families who have lived in the northwest for several generations, who are mostly Northern Euros and their transplant neighbors. Industry is dominated by outsiders and locals have no control over the economy as locals. The outdoors lifestyle is seen as desireable by the transplants who slink miserably outdoors wearing expensive clothing that is sold to them who the awkward europeans see. The locals become even more awkward being around these tech npcs since they are by nature not assertive, creating a miserable social environment.

It will never go back to the way it was here but there are good places to spend the decline here and I will NEVER TELL YOU WHERE THEY ARE. The culture will get weaker and faker every season until we DOMINATE OUTSIDE CULTURE WITH OUR FAKENESS EVEN DENVER WILL SUBMIT.

I lived in Seattle in the late aughts and if it wasn't dead on my arrival, it was dying. I visited some friends years after I left Seattle and every little spot that I loved there seemed to have disappeared. It's truly Amazon The City now. Not to mention the last I heard the homelessness problem was still really bad because Seattle Government can't seem to figure out what to do with homeless people who still work full time jobs. If they're junkies, the city just ships them out on buses to other cities.
Everyone I knew in Seattle has moved to either Ballard or West Seattle.

Cost of living went up, $595 to register my car this year. It used to be like $96 back in the day.

I needed a real ID for work, and it required so much bullshit and arguing and fees with the DMV.

I pulled up the law for the lady at the DMV And she still wouldn't accept what I brought. In the end it required, my hunting license, ccw license, passport, passport card, 5 pieces of certified mail, 1 expired license, 1 Current license and all my opened utilities bills with address which had to be paid for this bitch....oh and some money of course because this is California

Driving highway 1 is nice, it's also nice being part of the cultural zeitgeist that someone from like Michigan or Kansas will miss out on.

But when every house in LA is listing for over 1 mil regardless of condition or location it's probably time to leave.
