I am goign to a Christian college and I'm a guy. Albeit, an incredibly effeminate one.

My first semester was khaki shorts+jeans with a polo/regular tee with a sweatshirt sometimes. Torture.

I hate how men are so restricted in what they wear.
I want to be wearing stuff that is /effay/-approved but ISNT outright "IM A MASSIVE FUCKING HOMO HERETIC RETARD".

I'd like to diverge from the shitty prep look I had and be fashionable and effeminate without screaming gaylord.

Can you help me /effay/?

(I'm 5'8 and 140lb, long-ish hair and white)

Tbh op, I would look at Hedi Slimane, Saint Laurent Paris, Celine, really any of the brands he's worked for, it's all completely interchangeable.

It's very approachable, not traditionally masculine (hedi's inspiration came from not wanting to hide his thin effeminate frame in baggy clothing), but because Hedi is a derivative hack it still incorporates lots of ordinary items, flannel, skinny jeans etc., that wouldn't raise too many eyebrows.

You don't necessarily have to be incredibly skinny for this to work either, unless you are actually overweight most frames can handle this kind of look, just ensure that the lines of your clothes fit close to the contours of your body.

If you want to, you could get a few things tailored, it's typically not expensive at all, and if you don't spend much on the item you're getting tailored in the first place, you'll end up with a great result for less money overall than you would have spent on a more prestige designed to fit slim off the rack.

I will post some of the more approachable stuff that I have in mind, some of it is pretty straight-passing, especially with the normalisation of skinny jeans, but some of it definitely ascends into the fag-stratosphere.

There are a lot of ball crushingly skinny jeans in hedi's style, that's not for everyone although you've mentioned you enjoy presenting as effeminate, so if you want to go for the super tight pants, go ahead, but make sure it's flattering on you.

From your post it sounds like you're a pretty average weight, so as long as your jeans are tight enough to hug your butt and thighs to a reasonable degree, and cleanly show the lines of your legs without extra room or hanging fabric anywhere, you will have a good foundation for this sort of look. When I was first getting into fashion slim-fit was more in, and I often made the mistake of buying a size smaller than I actually needed. You want your clothes to fit close to your body, but they shouldn't be strangling you at all.

The archetypal footwear of this style is the chelsea boot, also known as gay elf boots on /fa/, obviously also the gayest board on 4chan.

The appeal of this shoe is that it's extremely low profile and pretty much perfectly blends into your sillhouette. Can be worn with basically anything.

I will reiterate my earlier advice and say beware of buying something too tight, even moreso with shoes. It's tempting to try and get the perfect slim fit but it's hell to actually wear, and you'll end up leaving them in the closet if they hurt your feet for months after buying.

Get something that actually fits you first, perfectly slim second.

pff there are almost-openly gay people on campus. I wore leggings (w/shorts duh im not showing my pp) on several occasions going to the gym. I also wore very light makeup and not-quite lipstick.

I don't sound gay and I don't really want to sound gay (might be unavoidable xd) but I think I'll do fine.

The main thing I CANT do is wear anything too outlandish or anything especially effeminate. I think I can reasonably excuse what I'll wear as esketit fashion choice.

Thanks for all of your fashion advice >>15400325

With shirts and jackets, sleeve width and shoulder width are going to be the most important things you want to look at for getting the right proportions.

Sleeves should fit slim, as close to your arms as you can get while still maintaining reasonable freedom of movement. It's not cool or effeminate to have your shit uncomfortably cutting into you all day. If you're planning on getting anything altered, be aware that this is mainly helpful for the body of your clothes, usually getting the shoulders altered or sleeves slimmed down is more expensive and involves more extensive work on the garment. The shoulders seams on your shirts should fall at the join between your collarbone and your shoulder.

Also important is the width of the armhole on a shirt and jacket; this is what ensures you will be able to move freely, and lift your arms comfortably over your head while still wearing close-fitting clothing.

The armhole of slim fitting clothing should be narrow and come close up under your arm, but you also shouldn't notice it actually pulling on your body, if you feel it cutting into your underarm it's too slim or just plain too small for you. If the armhole hangs loose but the sleeve and body is slim, you will have trouble moving without pulling excessively on the garment.

No problem OP, I went through a similar phase of trying to find something less traditionally masculine and exciting, so it feels good to be able to give someone the advice I wish I had recieved when I was starting out.

I will stop dumping walls of text on you now and start posting some inspo. I will keep an eye on this thread though if you have questions.

In summation, don't buy too tight or skinny, look for what is right for your body. Don't be afraid to wear some formal wear like it's casual, casual wear like it's formal. Wear what makes you feel comfortable and confident, but don't be afraid to experiment either.

Love you OP <3
